Just a few pictures of some of my friends I've drawn, I'm still pretty bad, but I'm trying to improve on it, my major issue is that I have very shaky hands and I'm pretty bad at drawing gently.

Anyways, posted in order they were drawn, several months between the two, each took about 2 hours to complete.

I drew children who are about to drown!  Drawing children resigned to their own death is pretty fun. (Picture based on Cinema Strange's song Catacomb Kittens, I dont just draw dead children for no reason).

Also imapiratearg the TRex is so cute.

Pye! I drew him yesterday and coloured him tonight. The actual drawing is about 8cm tall, so it was a bit hard to clean it up and in turn the colouring is a bit grimy.

I was going to post it somewhere, but no one really looks at this thread, so I was trying to work out where it could go so that everyone could praise me an inflate my ego.

I mean, somewhere where it would be appreciated

Taylor, that is a cute doggie.

So I decided to draw a coke whore (the-drink-not-the-drug-guys).  Because that's the kind of thing I do I guess?  Also, I drink too much Coke.

I drew the love Lunchbox yesterday!  I was kind of in a hurry because I had to go to work, so I only spent an hour and a half on it.  It almost but not quite looks like her.  (I didn't want to draw her hands so she is pretending to be an airplane).
(sorry it is a bit big)

Also, those drawing are ace.  I love the shading.

Man maybe if was actually a good drawing I could see where you were coming from.  That one doesn't even look nearly like an altered photo, because it's not a good enough drawing.

To see how I do things like this go here: http://ebony-willow.deviantart.com/art/Look-look-70919199
Line art, block colour, blending.  Simple!

I'd say you have a "style."  Sketching is sort of a universal thing, so is hatching and cross-hatching.  I tried that way you colour, and it's fuckin' hard as balls.

Today I give you:

Two doodles from a boring lecture (more vampires, of course),

And a drawing of Pye! I am really proud of this one, I tried a number of different things and it turned out pretty damn good. There is an older drawing of him further up the page for comparison.

Me, and Pea. Pea and Pye are old character I have had for aaaaages, so when I play around with drawing styles, I normally go back to them.

Kind of embarrassing backstory: Pea and Pye both started out as 'pandas'. Pea - P for Panda, get it? Thankfully I finally got rid of the animal-ish parts of their characters, and this drawing of Pea (and the earlier one of Pye) are starting to look like how they are in my head. I am colouring the Pye pic, but I will have to do a proper drawing of Pea before I try colouring her.

Here is a thing I have been working on for the past few days.  It will be part of my best friend's birthday present.  I will get it printed on canvas methinks.  Anyway, it is a bit big, but thats ok because it's pretty.

Emo kid! I am trying to get used to actually drawing with my tablet, rather than just colouring, and it's hard. I spend a fair while on this, but I might just go draw something on paper now. Maybe I will draw this guy and compare the two!

About the stance thing, I have just gotten lazy when drawing and do them all in the same pose. It frustrates the hell out of me, but I get more frustrated when poses fail miserably. I am trying, it's just when I am drawing absently in class I revert back to the basic pose because I am not concentrating on it a great amount.

I am also trying to change the noses, as you can see in my different pictures. I just haven't quite found a way of drawing them that I like and can make look right consistently. I am working it it, I promise!

A pose! It must be a miracle!

I know it's really sketchy and the lines are uneven and her left arm is wonky (I redrew it a lot and it now looks more like an arm and less like a noodle, so bear with me on that point) , but I drew this on a whim and it changed from what I was going to do and subsequently I am getting a bit sick of it, so this is the best it's going to get at the moment.

I really need to get used to the pressure sensitivity on this thing...

I draw stuff sometimes, too.

And sometimes, I use the pen tool on Photoshop to layer shapes and make things.

(removed the pictures to be brief)

I really like your style...  Here is mine.

The first things I ever drew were using MSPaint...

I started a sketch blog (http://steelandstripe.blogspot.com/) to see if I can develop some style, here is something from that:

I think what I am really interested in doing is (like Jeph) developing my drawing style on the computer- using a Wacom.  I don't have one yet but this is the picture I drew the first time I got my hands on one:

Some of these are from photos, some are from design projects.

Those are really great Oo
I have always been trying to practice drawing buildings, but I always end up disappointed by their un-unique-ness. ~~

Would you mind offering some starting advice? How do you approach what you got in your head so you don't end up lost in the details? Oo

Well I am studying architecture, so drawing buildings is kind of part of my course. Studying architecture gives you a unique way of looking at a building, and being a designer means you pick out certain details.

Of the above drawings, some of them a very calculated and careful, some are drawn from photos, and some are original designs. But I really think that the msot important skill in drawing is the ability to setup a drawing carefully, but loosely, and build detail with an eye for composition. A good way to start, is once you have drawn the edges lightly, start shading planes according to their angle. Use horizontal lines for flat surfaces, and vertical lines for vertical surfaces. You get a clear sense of composition as you go.
