Also, with the sign in the second picture, the top and bottom of it are at different angles, but that's little nitpicky stuff that isn't really that noticeable. They have much better line quality, I agree with est.

All the art students I know have told me to not bother with those models, and that they don't even use them (other than a jewellery holder)
I half agree with this, half don't. They're not much good for making poses look realistic, because... they're little blocks of wood. What I do find them great for, though, is perspective. Mine has saved my life many, many times when I've been drawing someone with an outstretched arm or leg or whatever.

That particular character has a taste for very bright colours. XD it sometimes contradicts my natural instinct for colour, but she is a lot of fun to draw.

What started as a warm up sketch amused me so much I turned it into a desktop background. I'm not sure which version I like the most.

Anyway I am also working on a pair of graphic novels. One is kind of whimsical and the other is about a murderous, possibly possessed, sadistic serial killer who rapes and murders the main characters sister. I might upload the cover art later on - or maybe I won't let it see the light of day

sounds fun. most of my art is concept sketches for several novel projects im working on. I used to love drawing comics.. i still do community ones (improv comics where artists battle it out by taking turns doing pages) one one of the forums i frequent I accidently started one with this sort comic (it probably doesn't make much sense if you don't know the character. im too lazy to really explain, but she is an OC of mine, who doesn't have much sense, and changes into different personas depending on the stimulus.
one artist thought it would be fun to "join in" and replied to it.. and it sort of continued.. with more and more artists taking part. the story arc is pretty simplistic but fun.
.. its a lot of fun, and you learn a lot art wise, because your pushed to draw situations and characters you would otherwise avoid.
Anyway i would love to see your cover art. <3 i love seeing what other people are doing with their projects.

So I've been studying Jeph's art style and I think i've just about got it nailed.
On the left is Hanners's face (partly), and the right is just a quick little drawing of nobody in particular

Eris, I like her teeny tiny feet. Not sure I'd like to see her walk on them in rl, though :/
A sketch I did a couple of nights ago. I suffer from drawing-me-over-and-over-again syndrome. (Please don't refer to the previous picture I posted as evidence of this.)

Here's some ideas.
1) Learn what composition is
2) get some books about anatomy
3) throw away your fucking artists mannequin
Artists mannequins are just about ok for working out foreshortening etc. if you have some idea how to set them up, which you obviously don't. Here's a big spoiler: human beings have WEIGHT. They have a centre of mass. Their poses flow through this centre of mass.
Also
Really shitty noses.
