I might be in on this.
How come oxford and aberdeen get snow, while all edinburgh gets is rain? I haven't seen the sun in a while (that's a lie, yesterday and the day before it was really sunny, but I miss it already).

So are these supposed to be summer tunes as in your traditional fun on the beach songs, or could they be anything associated with summer? Either. Both.

I think I might try to do this. Is a hot summer nights kind of thing okay in addition to the sunshine-y aspect of the season?

As it happens, I was already making a mix to share with my friends, but since you want mixes, hey, here it is. It is entitled: cute as the button (that turns on the happy machine)http://www.mediaf!re.com/?bxejfzxw31e I'm afraid you may already know many of the artists, but It was not made specifically for you, so I hope you'll forgive me. You said .zip files were okay, right?

It really sucks that a lot of the best songs I would want to put on a Summer Mix are M4A's from the Itunes store.
Oh wells, I can figure something good out.

I guess m4a is also applicable then.
Obviously, I can play either but I didn't want to penalise other people who might want to listen to these mixes but don't have iTunes.

Burn it to an actual CD and then import it again.
This might also work. If not I can always try and scour the internet for MP3's of the songs or something. Worse comes to worse at least M4A's are applicable now!

Yeah, I've burned my buys from iTunes onto CDs and no one's had a problem copying them that way. It's only a problem (I think) when you do it electronically. So yeah, what Gemm said.
But I'm glad you're including m4a's now, because actually, most of my m4a's are from CDs I imported to my computer, as I don't really like buying from the iTunes store. (I want a physical copy with album art, not just sound.)

I'll give this a shot. I predict that my list will consist almost entirely of drone and shoegaze, but GOOD TIMES WILL BE HAD. I could use a summer mix for myself, actually, even if we've just finished it here.

Actually, the people who chose to PM them have a fair point in not wanting to be seen publicly sharing copyrighted material.
No shame in PMing but it would be nice to have them in this thread if you want to live dangerously!

This may seem like a stupid question for me to ask, considering the ridiculous amount of music I listen to, but what do you mean by 'sequenced'? That the tracks are faded in and out of each other in one giant song file?

I mean that it must be very clear which order the songs are supposed to go in. You need to make sure you have changed the details of each track so their track number is the order it is in the mix, not the album it is on. Sequencing is key to a good mix. The winning mix will be well sequenced, I guarantee it.

I know this is going to come off like I'm just talking to hear myself talk, but seriously. Are people really having a problem with this? It's like holding a writing contest and then having to remind people that they need to use paragraphs and that they should organize their thoughts in a relatively coherent manner.

No, he's right, that's why I felt stupid about asking it is because it was one of those things that just looked so obvious but I couldn't put a finger on what you meant. Anyways, can I use a song that I want to use that has a different time than what it is? It's says it's 28 minutes even though it's only 4 and a half. If not, do you know of any programs that let me change that? The rest of the album is like it, too.

HELLO OMG FIRST POST I just can't resist a chance to make a mix CD, let alone one that can win me shit, so I signed up after lurking for a while. Here's my mix: www.pistols-at-dawn.com/music/arjueSummerMix.rarA few of the choices are pretty obvious but just fit too well not to include them. Only 1 track has the word summer in its title, but it really is one of the most summery songs on earth, and i balanced it out with a track by Snowman
