Is it alright if I enter two?  I'm thinking about making another that's slightly more psychedelic than what I've got now, more stoner/post-rock stuff.    Not that my other one isn't summery, I just think the second one would be more to my tastes and may introduce you to some of the newer stoner music that's come out in the past few years.

Blame the drugs if you want, but nothing says summer to me more than lighting up on the back porch on a starry night and listening to some music quietly while talking to friends for a few hours.

I'm going to say yes as long as individually they still fall under the 80 minute mark.

Frankly, I don't think mixes should be that long anyway.

Yeah, it's not that I was pushing the time limit, it's that I thought a lot of the stoner stuff wouldn't gel as much with the other one.

'Us' is used as 'me' in the lexicon of certain regional dialects of English.

To my knowledge, the North of England and parts of Australia at least.

It could also be the royal 'us'.  The Queen might be making a summer mix.

They are all m4a's, because that's what happened when I put them on a cd and then uploaded them again. But let me know if you have a problem with any of the tracks. (Hopefully you shouldn't!)

I have started mentally writing my tape. It's not going to be straight forward track-by-track; expect megamixes, my friend.

General query: is my mix likely to be helped or hurt by the fact that I am completely avoiding everyone else's mixes until I am done?

Okay, how about $100 on Amazon or American Apparel?

For reference, I will convert this currency amount for wherever the winner happens to live and round up to the nearest ten.

I was entering anyway, but now I actually give a shit!

My intro is a mashup. I have big plans for this. Crossfade city.

"Summer", to me, hints at playing, loving and losing, and just plain lazing about.

"And now for something completely different".  This is a poor fit for the rules, and for the usual taste of this community; the newest track is this year, one was recorded in 1904, and the oldest was written in the 13th century.  So what the hell - enjoy it or hate it, as you will.

Code:
http://www.mediaf!re.com/?y2gmwmcbeti
(re-upped with more useful tags. I hope the tags work OK - I don't use them myself)

More than half the tracks were recorded by me, mostly at concerts and a few for commercial release - how vain can I get?

Oh crap. I went to take a look at my mix in progress, add a couple songs I felt good about recently, and I couldn't find it. Time to start from scratch, I guess.

I have mine ready, but I was debating whether to retitle the album in the tags for the competition, or keep them intact so Tommy might look into them later.  Any suggestions?

if it were, i'd choose a better theme than tommy's.

but i am thinking of entering this anyway, just cause i'm bored and i probably do have some "summery" songs on my computer.

I don't have many summery songs, but I had fun with it. Besides, it's fun to find things to mix with the few you do have and also try to guess what Tommy has not heard.

You should probably change all the album tags to "Summar" or something, to keep it all straight.

Time for the bandwagon to be jumped. By me.

Ignore the track numbers in the filenames, they are from the mix before I re-edited it. Everything's in the right order if you go by those, but the actual track listings are in the tags.

I'm new to these boards, but I'm fairly confident in my ability to make a swinging mix.  How accesible does it need to be? If it has a song from a ska band that only 3 people in a small ass town in Utah would know, is that permissable?
