July 6th at the Bluebird in St. Louis, The Mae Shi and So Many Dynamos are playing.

It's a Sunday, which is actually awesome for me, since I have Mondays off. I'm gonna get trashed and try to sneak myself onto the Mae Shi's gear van.

If I miss this show, I WILL DIE

Anyway, what upcoming shows are making your mouths water?

On Saturday I will see Shellac, Mission of Burma, Melt Banana and Bottomless Pit in Paris.

This should be fun because -

A) The aforementioned bands playing together on one day!
B) It will be fun to see the extended Shellac/Burma/Pit family because I almost never get to see them these days.
C) It's in Paris! Paris is awesome!

Everyone keeps mentioning Swervedriver and I keep thinking they are Skrewdriver and I mistake everyone for neo-nazis

Midwest fest is this weekend! it has a pretty nice lineup of a bunch of hardcore/punk bands from... the midwest. Hey! All I need is a ride up to Lawrence.

Boris are playing sometime soon. Although I don't remember when.

Ghost Mice play Solidarity! on july 21st! I am really looking forward to that.

List of shows I hope to hit up this summer:

Feist @ Shelburne in July
Gogol Bordello @ Higher Ground in August
Wilco & Andrew Bird roughly a week later at some place in Massachusetts.

And probably lots of local shows around my state.

Gogol Bordello for the 3rd time, on June 11th in Milwaukee. Going with a group of 10 friends. I'm pumped beyond belief. They always have the best gigs, they're like fucking carnivals.

June 25- Scout Niblett and June Panic
June 27- Frog Eyes
July 19- Son Ambulance
September 7- Xiu Xiu
September 15- OKKERVIL FUCKING RIVER.

I was going to go to Shearwater in Tronno but now it looks like we'll be leaving before then, so that sucks.

Dude, I thought being in Austin this summer would let me be in the front row to get at least a taste of Okkervil at home, but it seems like they're only here for SXSW in March and ACL in September and tour everywhere else all year long... crap.

That said, I'm looking forward to Rilo Kiley, Islands (again), probably Wolf Parade, and maybe (depending on how long I'm around) The Faint.

P.S.: Are The Hold Steady any good? I'm barely familiar with them but have heard good things about their music, and since they have a show here in August I'm wondering if it's worth looking into.

Blondie this month.
The Brian Jonestown Massacre and All Points West (Radiohead, The New Pornographers, The Go! Team, more) in August.
My Bloody Valentine in September.

I just saw Duran Duran this past weekend and Wu-Tang Clan in April.

Fucking hell it's a good year for shows.

Now, I wouldn't normally get mind-boggled over somebody having eclectic taste in music, but seriously. Whoa.

On-topic, I got kinda bummed out with going to gigs by myself, so I haven't been to any in months. But next Wednesday I'm going to see Basia Bulat, which I'm excited about. And I'm taking a friend! So that will be nice.

Radiohead, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Firewater are the only well-known acts I'm seeing this summer. The rest are friends' bands or bands that just happen to be playing where mine is. Should be a fantastic three-months for concerts.

My ears are still taking a break for last month when I saw John Zorn live twice, the same week, playing with four different groups.

I'm also going to give up on seeing Dinosaur Jr. next week because I'm dirt poor.

Nah, both shows are in San Francisco, a month apart. Islands is playing there on the sixteenth, Wolf Parade sometime in the middle of July, and I can't go because my sister would be the one to take me and she is pretty busy, though I think there's still a slim possibility of catching WP.
