a free outdoors show in reykjavik with björk and sigur rós and a foreign band that has yet to be identified in the end of june cheesy

You're going to that?!? Damn you!! Reliable sources suggest Radiohead might be the unannounced band. Sigur Ros, Bjork and Radiohead in one show sounds beyond awesome.

Hmm, well never mind. It's still gonna be a great show and I'm sure they'll get another great band instead (probably a big name one too. My Bloody Valentine maybe? Or Mogwai perhaps? I dunno). It'll be cool to see who they choose.

Spiritualized
Spiritualized
Spiritualized
also MBV, Brian Jonestown Massacre & m83

Radiohead, The Brian Jonestown Massacre and Firewater are the only well-known acts I'm seeing this summer. The rest are friends' bands or bands that just happen to be playing where mine is. Should be a fantastic three-months for concerts.

As far as I know, Anton's only scheduled gig is in New York at Terminal 5 where I will be. Are you guys from NYC or am I mistaken?

Is it because it is technically illegal to pronounce it "Arr-Kansas" while in the state?

I'm hoping to scrounge up enough money to get myself and my girlfriend (though she can scrounge her own money) to see Opeth in September. I only hope that I have time before it sells out.

I was excited about Melt-Banana. Then I remembered I'd forgotten to buy a ticket and it's sold out. I might go and see Off Minor in Manchester instead.

Right now, the big thing I'm looking forward to is Rothbury - Zappa Plays Zappa, Modest Mouse, The Black Keys, Yonder Mountain String Band with Jon Fishman, Trey Anastasio, too many freaking bands to begin to name (or process what I'll see and what I'll skip.)

I just got back from seeing Gogol Bordellos in milwaukee--holy shit. Absolutely amazing. Quite probably the best show I've ever been to. It was 3 hours straight--I've literally got blisters on my feet from dancing, jumping, moshing...afterwards, people could barely even walk down the stairs their legs were so weak (no, it wasn't just alcohol. Every single person was stumbling and drifting to one side or the other, even these kids who were no older then 15.)

I saw them once before in Chicago, but they were even better this time. It was in a spectacular venue too: an old dance-hall downtown with a re-built stage. It never ceases to amaze me how much raw energy there is at a Gogol show. No other band I've been to comes anywhere close to it.

I saw Gogol Bordello last fall in Stockholm. They were fantastic then too.

Only thing planned for this summer is a festival in my old home town that has Manu Chao, CSS, Opeth, the Hives, Kaizers Orchestra and fucking Sex Pistols.
There are some other pretty good Swedish bands playing too, so I suppose it will be good, even if I've seen better lineups.

I've always wanted to see Gogol Bordello, I reckon they would be fucking amazing live.

This summer I'm going to see Radiohead in Glasgow. Going to a couple of music festivals (Belladrum and Connect) which should hopefully be awesome if they are anything near as good as Rockness. Not any bands I particularly want to see at the festivals but they should be good anyway.

So wait is this the new gig thread or something?

Anyway, I was excited out of my fucking mind to go see Battles this Saturday at 9:30 but earlier this week my dad decided to plan a trip to new york to visit family instead. Now I don't get to see Battles.

I am kinda angry about this.

I'm a little confused about this too. I thought this thread was about shows you're going to see, but then people started talking about shows they have seen...

Anyway, it's looking more and more like I'll be around Austin long enough to see both Wolf Parade and The Faint, which makes me very very happy.

SOULWAX SOULWAX SOULWAX SOULWAX

(SOULWAX)

are playing Parklife!

Also 2manyDjs and Blackalicious!

And some other bands I suppose.

I'm looking forward to Opeth in a  few months, and next month there is an awesome lineup of local shoegazers/drone/ambient/post-rock bands playing, Hazards of Swimming Naked, Sleepmakeswaves, The Surrogate, and From Whence it Come are all playing together in July, which should be awesome

I was very upset for a while, because I thought Mogwai was only playing that damned ATP festival, but alas! this is not true!

september 19th they're coming round to philly, and I'm dragging everyone I possibly can to that. I can't wait. second time I'll be seeing them.

you've got to respect a band that plays from their entire repertoire, and not just their new album. they played My Father, My King in its entirety for us on the Mr. Beast tour.

Modest Mouse was pretty crap.  Pretty solid selection of older tunes, but Brock was not on his game vocally.  A girl next to me jumped on stage & hugged Johnny Marr.   Love as Laughter opened, & they were boring.

Sigur Ros tix will be available for preorder on their site tomorrow @ 9 am.   Toronto here I come!   Also just noticed Boris will be in Buffalo!

Next Saturday at the Black Cat in DC Mission of Burma are playing Vs, which I've never really listened to but I'm sure is good if they're recent output is any indication (yeah, it's probably better, but I was late on the bandwagon, okay?).

Boris is coming to town soon, (July 8th?) which is nice.

And next time Pig Destroyer plays around here (and they're from northern Va) I will freak, though the bits of Phantom Limb I've heard are no Terrifyer.

Modest Mouse was pretty crap.  Pretty solid selection of older tunes if you ignore the fact they did not play Tundra-Desert I mean come on guys, but Brock was not on his game vocally/drunk enough to be fun to watchA girl next to me jumped on stage & hugged Johnny Marr.   Love as Laughter and Band of Horses opened, they were boring or really shitty (BoHorses)

Changed this up to fit my experience with this band last summer. Essentially, what we are getting at is Modest Mouse is boring band.

No but seriously, you should go. I caught them back in April and it was a great show despite a horribly incompetent soundman. And it's only $8, and apparently the drummer/singer from DFA1979 is opening? Should be awesome. P.S., if you do go you might see a fat lard of ginger wearing an LCD Soundsystem shirt.
