pretty bummed. on saturday an amazing band, an aria (or sleepwalkers guide, their recent new name), will die.

however i will be there to witness it and it will be beautiful.

edit: aw man i just realized their new name is a reference to joshua fit for a battle. that makes me love these dudes even more.

Prepare for one of the best shows of your life. They are INCREDIBLE live. Not in a flashy, over the top way, but still.

Casiotone for the Painfully Alone at the Northcote Social Club (a really nice venue very close to where I live) tomorrow night. So excited! I got into Casiotone literally, and coincidentally, about three weeks after he/they last toured Australia, so I've been looking forward to this.

Also the Decemberists are coming to Australia next year. I'm really torn about this. The tickets are pricy (around A$60) but I've been really wanting to see the Decemberists for ages. I love three out of five of their albums. BUT: I really really don't like their latest, and this being a tour on the back of their latest album odds are the set list is going to lean heavily towards songs from that. I don't really want to spend a lot of money to see a band I like playing songs I don't like. Decisions, decisions.

Speaking of which, I have two concerts I am required to go to on Friday!

I'm not really complaining considering one is a first-rate symphony and the other is Eugene Rousseau

Chances are that they'll play Hazards of Love in it's entirety. You may want to factor that in to your considerations.

but not when it gets in the way of punk rock.

Trying to find out more information I checked on the venue's website, and according to that they'll "draw from their full catalogue", so I think I'll give it a shot. Even though it's at Billboard, which is far from the best venue in town for a band like the Decemberists.

Now trying to decide which Perth International Arts Festival shows I'll be going to since I don't have that much money.

Think at this point I'll just be going to Yo La Tengo and Dirty Three (performing Ocean Songs).

the set started when david yow looked at the crowd with crazy eyes and said "this is gonna be really fucking good" and leapt into the swarm of people. i helped lift him for most of the first song, so i got all up ons david yow. i saw shonen knife and young widows and some other bands yesterday, but jesus lizard was the highlight of course.

With Pavement playing? Be quick.

I'm seeing The Flaming Lips tomorrow!

Also, to whoever is going to see Dan Deacon live, I hear he's brilliant, really really entertaining. I'm extremely jealous, and wish that he would come to the UK.

EDIT: I just went to his myspace, so looks like he isn't doing any shows anytime soon cause of a manky leg. Bummer.

Still have Built to Spill Monday, and Minus the Bear with As Tall As Lions is a week from Sunday.  Joy.  AFI is coming in January, I am also very excited for this.
