Ben Templesmith is an artist that's drawn two fairly major comic books - the first run of 30 Days of Night, as well as his ongoing project with Warren Ellis, Fell. I've read Fell from the beginning (it's cheap!), and recently stumbled over 30DoN in the comic book store, and while I'm not really a huge fan of Niles' writing in 30DoN, Templesmith's art knocks me flat on my back. There's a dynamic, and the sort of careful carelessness about his linework that really connects with me. He is climbing fast towards the favourite artist pedestal for me. See his works here.

Check out the Dr. Who poster (third from the top, far left). So great.

I looked through the new trade paperback of Fell a few weeks ago at the local comic buying place when I had no monies.
NEEDLESS TO SAY. I'm a fan of Ellis, so that's why I picked it up to flip through, and it looks like a pretty awesome comic.
Looks. I mean, the art is pretty awesome, so I'm excited to eventually pick it up. Too bad I'm still trying to finish my libraries for Sandman, Preacher, Transmetropolitan, Lone Wolf and Cub, Welcome to the NHK, The Walking Dead, Bone (The new colored paperbacks.), Fables, and Hellblazer. I also have been getting increasingly interested in buying the first Atomic Robo tpb, want to get my hands on Colonel Sweeto (The PBF collection.), and would like to preorder the Great Outdoor Fight. All this while slowly becoming a Love and Rockets guy, developing a curiosity for Queen and Country, and abating a lust for Hellboy/BPRD stuff.
Needless to say, there are lots of series' out there that I want to read.
So, how awesome is Fell in comparison to Ellis' other stuff? I'm trying to find a reason to get that next before I grab any of these other things.

Fell is decent compared to the rest of his stuff, but everything is overshadowed by Transmetropolitan. Seriously. If you haven't read it, drop everything you are currently doing and run.

Run.

What are you waiting for?
