The National - Ada

The National is awesome.  Including their pre-Alligator stuff.  Likely my 3rd favorite band.

i was accused of "liking that song ironically" once, but it is a genuinely awesome tune!

Gojira - The Way of All Flesh

This is the second listen-through and while I remember it taking me more than three listens to get into From Mars to Sirius, I'm not quite as impressed by this disc as I am by From Mars....  I'm thinking it's just a matter of time, though...

I am listening to Low's Drums and Guns, and pieces of their other albums. The sequence of "Hatchet," "Take Your Time" and "Your Poison" affects me in oh so many ways.

Espers, 'Black is the Color'

It's from their cover EP, The Weed Tree, which is the only thing of theirs I've heard due to laziness in d/l'ing and broke-ness and forgetfulness at the record stores.

Really good stuff, tho, a folk sound with strange drop-ins of electronic insanity.  The first song of theirs I heard was a cover (off this EP) of 'Flaming Telepaths', which has a synth dying loudly with violence for a five minute coda.  After that coda, I rushed from the bookstore across the street to Static Age to get the last copy in the store.

I can't seem to make myself take Okkervil River - The Stand Ins out of my car CD player.

Of course, most of the time I drive my real car that has an auxiliary input for my mp3 player, but when I do drive the other one I see no reason to listen to any other CD.

Hmm... Actually Jason Mraz has caught my ear. Picked up the new album, and really liked some of the songs. Mainly "I'm Yours" and "Coyote" Although "Lucky" (ft. Colbie Caillat) has grown on me. Trying to decide if its worth picking up some of his older stuff. (I don't know of anything besides "Remedy")

hell of a song, you ever tried playing it?  the timings are crazy.  the drummer from my old band pretty much doubled his skill level by continually trying until he could play vicarious all the way through.

and on topic - i'm listening to a banner pilot ep i bought at the fest.  goooood shit.

Seeing as I only started playing bass in June, I think its still a little out of my league.
