A Wilhelm Scream's new self-titled EP, streaming here. Pretty awesome, although I wish I could find a UK distro that does Paper+Plastick releases so I don't have to pay a metric fuckload for shipping from the US... woo! Thanks for that streaming link. I cannot wait to buy this. Apparently, there's some special pre-order thing on Monday, and then on the 20th the preorders for the vinyl open. Will most definitely be getting the EP, and will probably do the special pre-order. (also I looked at the Paper+Plastick releases, and they've got the Rehasher LP for $12. I'll prob order that, too, eventually).

Oh man it has been a while since I've listened to some excellent psych and what better way to transition from afrofuturist funk and jazz than by listening to Funkadelic's Free Your Mind And Your Ass Will Follow
Sometimes it sucks to be jaded, but it makes being impressed by anything at all much more wonderful and precious
i.e.
oh my god i am diggin' this shit so hard

nope now listening to Can't Decide by Black Flag. Been on a huge hardcore roll the past couple of days. I am enjoying it a lot but I think it might have ruined the yo la tengo gig last night a bit.

yeah, all the flipper stuff i won was CD format, and all recent reissues (apart from one studio and one live album, both of which are new, and feature krist from nirvana). i was maybe being a bit over-harsh, there were a few alright songs - i just prefer my earlier 80s proto-hardcore stuff to be a bit more melodic, a la early replacements and husker du. i never sell any of my cds, even the old stuff i don't listen to anymore, as there's several albums that took upwards of a coupla years to sink in for me, and others i've forgotten about then revisited. but you shouldn't have too much trouble getting them on amazon or some other website now they've been reissued.
also, i'm currently listening to "ghosts" by marked men. sugary-sweet melodies in rough-as-arseholes garage-punk songs. yay!

The Stupidest Thing I've Ever Heard by Boatrocker (Not actually the stupidest thing i've ever heard, I quite enjoy it, good punk) They opened for a Liam and Me show at my school last week and gave out free demos. I'm finally listening to the demo, and they're pretty good. The demos are more refined and cleaner than they were live (dur).

Sigur Ros - Gobbledigook (Flowing Remix Raw & Bare)
And it's A-side twin on the latest Kompakt Pop release. That label just doesn't disappoint. Usually I wouldn't touch a Sigur Ros remix with a very long pole, but this is something else.

"The Ruin of Nova Roma" by Taint. equal parts stoner-rock, doom, groove-metal and black-flag-esque hardcore, twisted into epic songs that span upwards of 9 minutes in some cases. badass from start to finish, i have no idea why i don't listen to this more often. best welsh band ever? probably!

I, uh, I tried listening to Japanese Torture Comedy Hour. Here's part of the description given (Which I read only after hearing them): relentless assaults of screaming electronic madness and maddening static explosions done in the tradition of the finest Japanese noise. Voltage Monster's absence of the rigid structure present in Hull's other projects allows for an altogether more dense, more suffocating exploration of white noise as an aesthetic. One of the most punishing, harsh electronics records to surface in quite some time, Voltage Monster is nothing short of devastating Do people enjoy this shit? It's nothing but static and feedback. I removed it from my computer, as I'm fairly sure it violates the Geneva Convention someow.
