Theoretical Girls - Theoretical Record
Man, the best thing the original punk revolution did was convince arty NYC kids to start no wave bands. Not quite as utterly confontational as most of the no wave groups, Theoretical Girls seems to split the difference between Wire's catchier bare-bones art-punk and the wall-of-guitar density that Glenn Bracna would dive into when he graduated to guitar symphonies.

Been on a major Okay kick lately. The more I listen, the more complex and wonderful and sad I realize these songs are. Marty Anderson is a pretty incredible songwriter, all things told.

I am super grateful to Touch Me I'm Sick for upping that Rough Trade comp to the Mfire thread, if for nothing else than Delta 5's "Mind Your Own Business." Also, I can't get over "Want You Back" by Nite Jewel. It's kinda caught in some niche in my brain, been there all week.

Joan of Arc With Hair Aflame by From The Depths
It's a really cool sound. I doubt I can properly describe it, but I'd call it a mix of hardcore with a sort of operatic gothica. I'm definitely gonna go search for more stuff by them

Melechesh - Rebirth Of The NemesisBlack/Thrash Metal with a folk touch, from Israel [although they don't live there anymore] and the themes are mostly about mesopotamian mythology... It can't get any better that for me.

Sebastien Leger - Victory (Lifelike Flashing Victory Vision)
I've been on a huge French House binge the past few days, and this is the track I keep coming back to.
And Prassay's Krvsin.
And Behind by Lacquer.
Okay, and Phoenix - If I Ever Feel Better (Buffalo Bunch remix). But that's all, I promise.

i'm currently listening to an assortment of old Rocket from the Crypt tracks from the All Systems Go compilations. I'd previously skipped over a lot of these thanks to the whole "recorded in a shoebox for 5 bucks" production job, but it turns out i'm a big silly twat, as they're fucking awesome!!!

The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs
Right now, "Papa Was a Rodeo." Despite knowing that Stephen Merritt's singing the female perspective in this song, I can't hear "Love was a trucker's hand" without thinking Merritt's talking about getting rest-stop handjobs.
