Ilyas Ahmed's "Goner" i.e. probably the best album of the year. Totally mesmerizing and unique.

The sound of my Humanities I professor, outlining the fact that I managed to forget that the death of Laocoon was, in fact, from the Aeneid, and I can now feel a sense of despair at writing that the scene was from Greek myth.

Memorial - Explosions in the Sky

By far one of the best EITS songs, also one of the songs that helped get me into good music.  Fuck, I miss the days where I was just discovering all the wonderful music that I listen to now; I remember the first listens to some of these songs as being really mind-opening.

just walked home from work late at night, through some slightly "stabby" areas, on my own, listening to Genghis Tron's "Board Up the House" on headphones.  My mind just about shat itself.

i do actually read what people listen to. sometimes it is neat to see that other people are listening to the same songs i am! this is a thing i don't get to experience in real life too often. sometimes, this thread reminds me of tunes that i haven't heard in ages and then i revisit them and fall in love with them all over again. this is also a positive thing.

half of this thread happens to involve music i've never heard of so i can't really judge it as being superior or inferior to my own taste.
if i wanted to participate in a "musical dick waving contest" i would automatically be disqualified for my sincere love of horribly cheesy dance music, mainstream pop, and occasional bits of gangsta rap.

I love this song, but I'm not completely sure why.

when i was a kid and i'd go round my next door neighbours' house, their parents had that song on a 7" vinyl and for some reason we'd all listen to it on repeat and dance like twats.  fun times!!!

i'm taking in biffy clyro's new album "only revolutions" right now, along with a load of b-sides from it that i found.  awesome.
