Oh uh I've actually made a bunch of purcahses recently that I haven't noted. About a month ago, I picked up the Pianos Become the Teeth/Ezra Joyce 7" split. Then about two weeks later I picked up A Q and Not U 7", a Rites of Spring 7", and A 7" split between DC pop punk sweethearts The Max Levine Ensamble and the band they sound way too much like whos name I can't remember. Somewhere in there I picked up a Cult Ritual 7" out of a box at a hardcore show. And two days ago I picked up Secret Name by Low. I would post pictures but my camera cord is MIA.

Though the great artwork on Animal Crack Box makes me happy, I must say it's far from essential.   Yawn.

Got a couple random ones lately...7" White stripes cover of Lord Send me an Angel.  side b You're Pretty Good Looking.  Cover art sucks but I like that track.   Finally picked up Grizzly Bear Yellow House, I never got around to buying that so I gave my friend Feels for it.   Oh yeah, and someone gave me Isis- Celestial because I commented on how its one of the few harder bands I enjoy.   That was sweet.   I've been contemplaying purchasing some El Guincho... only heard a track or two but I liked what I heard.

Were all the copies of Monoliths and Dimensions that price or you just find one priced wrong?

For $10 I'm willing to give that one a go.

It was $10. The sale probably ended today, though, so it may well be $25 again tomorrow.

Thao Nguyen is pretty good. She played at my school. Nothing particularly special, just nice kinda rockin singer-songwriter stuff if I recall correctly. Indiefolkrock or whatever you wanna call it.

Just got:

Xela/The North Sea split - Electronic Music Vol. 1 (LP, Rite Records)
Xela w/ Greg Haines and Danny Saul - The 12th Chapel (LP, Type Records)
Xela - In Bocca al Lupo (2xLP, Type Records)

I would post pictures but there's not much point. The album covers are very cool methinks but couldn't be much more minimal. The first two are just white with a small hand stamped label in the middle (the first w/ all credits in Latin, the second in English and hand numbered, both marked as editions of 300. The third is in a light brownish sleeve with a weird little symbol on the front, nothing else).
Hooray for awesome, kinda scary noise!

Valley Parade-  The Broadways cover art is nothing short of wonderful!

Just ordered.....

Deerhunter- Rainwater cassette exchange

Jonsi & Alex- Riceboy sleeps

Grizzly Bear- Horn of Plenty

Though I don't expect too much from Riceboy sleeps, the cover art pushed me over the edge.   Debating a couple other purchases.

Riceboy Sleeps is fucking awesome. Well, unless you don't like ambient music. In which case you won't like it. Did you get the special edition box set? I am still waiting for mine to come in.

I like all kinds of music including ambient, just from my preliminary listens it doesn't strike me as anything groundbreaking.   No special edition box set for me as I prefer to own it on vinyl.   Pretty bummed they didn't have a special edition pressed on vinyl though....

It's certainly not groundbreaking, but then most things aren't. It is, however, a very beautiful, moving, interesting, and well-constructed album of ambient music. In that regard it's excellent.

He could be.  He was recommended to me on this forum, so all I know is that he's got some fans here.

*edit* It was in fact TheFuriousWombat who gave the original recommendation.

No. I refuse to.

Just got two double CD sets: John Williams doing guitar concertos (Vivaldi is the only name I recognize, the rest are all like Villa-Lobos and Castelnuovo-Tedesco), and the other is The Last Waltz. Awesome.

"The Queen Is Dead" - The Smiths
"Marquee Moon" - Television
"Seventeen Seconds" - The Cure
"Kick Out The Jams" - MC5
"End on End" - Rites of Spring
"Combat Rock" - The Clash
"Wonderful Rainbow" - Lightning Bolt
"Give 'Em Enough Rope" - The Clash
"Signals, Calls, And Marches" - Mission of Burma
"Death to the Pixies" - Pixies
"Junkyard" - The Birthday Party
"Welcome to the Monkey House" - Dandy Warhols
"Pornography" - The Cure
"Pink Moon" - Nick Drake
"Isn't Anything" - MBV (on vinyl)
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart's s/t (also on vinyl)

Before I left, I got "Smile" by Boris too. The day I got back, I got "Bad Music for Bad People" by The Cramps.

I don't think I'm buying any music for a while.
