What are your top 5 downloaded files? And how many times have they been downloaded?

I'm bored and curious. Apologies if this thread has been done before. Here are mine.

5. PJ Harvey - A Woman A Man Walked By - 357
4. Starfucker - Jupiter - 412
3. The xx - xx - 416
2. Discovery - LP - 506
1. Delorean - Ayrton Senna - 2,482

Any surprises?

Personally I'm surprised Delorean has been downloaded well over quadruple the number of times as the #2. Also, The xx is apparently very popular, as it's been up not half as long as the Starfucker album but has already surpassed it. Also I completely forgot that I had uploaded the PJ Harvey album, but apparently she's popular too.

Your turn!

I had some Bach and Bartók that went into the hundreds, and Prokofiev 6th Symphony which reached 500, but I've removed them (they were readily available commercial recordings).

Of those I've currently got available, the top (from about 100 downloads to about 40) are:

Fiori Musicali (a disk by some buskers I heard in Dubrovnik)
Moondog and Moondog2
Tavener - The Whale (a rarity, this one)
Stravinsky - The Soldier's Tale
VoiCE (a demo I made for a small a capella group)

Bubbling under 40:

Beatles Anthology etc
Tavener - Celtic Requiem (another rarity)
more Moondog

Mediaf!re has deleted all of my uploaded files.  huh

I do remember the Dananananaykroyd EP and album, the two Horse Feathers albums and Page France all had over 150 downloads though.

1. Gotye- Like Drawing Blood

Makes sense, it has a combination of being obscure enough that not many people around would have it, in combination with being an utter fucking cracker of an album

2. Ulver- Perdition City
3. Porcupine Tree- Voyage 34
4. Refused- Shape of Punk to Come
5. Opeth- Blackwater Park

Lindstrom - Where you go I go too [473]
Thee More Shallows - A history of sport fishing [350]
Thee More Shallows - More deep cuts [142]
HEALTH - DISCO [133]
Efterklang - Under giant trees [117]

So I was curious why those top two were so popular. Turns out they found another home on some other music forums. Shocker eh.

1. This Will Destroy You EP.rar - 770 (this is actually their full length. i mean, i did leak this onto the forums so it got a lot of downloads that way, but man 770 is a shit ton of downloads. i didnt realize people liked twdy that much.)

2. Elizabeth Anka Vajagic - Stand With The StillnessOf This Day.rar - 498 (this one is really surprising to me. i was just looking though constellations catalog one day and noticed this and downloaded it and was blown away by how sad and bleak it was and posted it on the mediaf!re thread as the saddest album i've heard. which is true, but damn it has almost 500 downloads that is ridiculous.)

3. Laura - Mapping Your Dreams.rar 460 (this actually makes some sense. this is laura's first effort, and i seem to remember it being pretty hard to find so i can see why it has amassed so many downloads. however, its also not that good. :c )

4. Insomniac Doze.rar - 287 (i dont get why people like envy so much. yes, they are good. i love envy myself. however, most of my screamo downloads are at absoute shit levels(not all daitro and saetia are in the top 10 and city of caterpillar is 11)(but most others yeah absolute shit). yet envy is in the top 5. is it cause they are signed to trl? this may be a very post-rocky album, but its still screamo. i really dont get it.)

5. Sticking Fingers Into Sockets - EP.rar - 241 (yeah kids like indie pop whatever. i remember this being the only thing by them i've actually enjoyed. i should spin it again sometime and see what i think.)

now for shits and giggles, i present my bottom 5 (aka lets raise awareness for the good albums we have uploaded that have been ignored you fucks my shitty old post rock band has more downloads than these.)

5. La Quiete Louise Cyphre Split.rar - 20 (guys this is one of my favorite splits in emo ever. its up there with max colby/shotmaker and ampere/sinaloa. especially the louise cyphre side. great orchid-influenced emo.)

4. arse_moreira_kidcrash_split.zip - 16 (this is a 5 inch dudes. it will take like, 30 seconds to download and less than 5 minutes to listen to. arse moreira's side is only okay but kidcrash delivers the goods as usual.)

3. Suffix - You're Wearing Me Out.zip - 8 (okay i just uploaded this and suffix is a brand new band so even most kids into this shit won't know them. dont worry i dont hate you for not checking this out. very modern emo, like age sixteen n shit (their full length has 60ish if you got that go check out this in the hardcore thread.))

1. The Curtain Falls.rar 7 (last two are tied at seven. i honestly havent listened to you and i in ages. i probably should. but not now suis la lune is to good to stop in the middle.)

1. Dawn Treader(2).zip - 7 (guys is motherfuckin' dawn treader. thrasy, grindy, hardcore as shit emo. and the quiet parts straight up have piano and cello. these dudes don't fuck around. really its just dirty, sloppy punk straight from the heart. this really should get some more.)

1. Comets on Fire - Field Recordings From the Sun (1173)
2. Moccasin - Last Leaf (961)
3. Titan - A Raining Sun Of Light and Love For You, and You, and You (756)
4. Shogun Kunitoki - Vinonaamakasio (696)
5. Growing - Sky's Run Into The Sea (614)

I'm really happy that Moccasin's as high up on this list as it is.  Exposing close to a thousand people to that band is something I'm pretty proud of.  Likewise with Titan.  I'm kind of surprised that Comets on Fire, a band I have sort of fallen out of the habit of listening to, is the number one most downloaded artist I've offered to the internet.  Oh well, I'm happy.

My mediaf!re url is mediaf!re.com/onewheelwizzard ... peruse at your leisure.  If you're confused about any file labels, or want information about any of the files on it, just PM me and I'll fill you in.

The Good, The Bad, And The Cuddly by The Bicycles (249 times)
Satanic Panic in the Attic by of Montreal (247 times)
The Magic Position by Patrick Wolf (221 times)
The Sunlandic Twins (With the Bonus EP) by of Montreal (214 times)
Going Places by Montag (150 times)

I'm a bit disappointed that some of the more local stuff I upload doesn't get as much attention as those five.  I think I'm gonna re-upload a bunch of those soon.

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest = 561 times
The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love = 487 times
Stars Of Track And Field - Centuries Before Love and War = 475 times
Do Make Say Think - The Other Truths = 292 times
O! The Joy - Zen Mode = 264 times

The last one is easily the biggest surprise of the top five. But glad to see it.

Thought I'd throw my total DL number as well = 10,327.
Feel free to do that same cause I'm kinda curious to see others numbers.

I'll check when I get home, but I'm calling Jaydiohead as my highest.

People downloaded it here when it was available for free from their site? Well, I did like the album, and since the mediaf!re thread might be where you heard it first, it's understandable.

I made the mistake of uploading without an account, so I lost the numbers for all my downloads. I know people really liked DOOM's latest release, Born Like This, and Dinosaur Jr.'s You're Living All Over Me. Histoire de Melody Nelson also rose steadily over the year, which was a nice surprise. Go go Serge Gainsbourg.
