I did a song, listened to it, and had a resounding "NO" ring through my head. So I am going to come up with a different idea. Keeping the covers theme, just need to do them in a different way.

I think we ought to do a name fad. You know, like how there's a bunch of "Crystal" bands and "Wolf" bands and "Shit" bands.
Our common word shall be "Cube". My project shall be called "ShitCube".

Presenting: Alf Ramsey's Porn Dungeon by Small Town Gypsy Massacre
1. Wanktro
2. Morning Bereavement
3. We're Sorry
4. Ain't It Funny
5. Love Note
6. Homicidal Blues
7. Bioshlong
8. Shit In The Fan
9. It's A Rainy Day In Preston
10. Sanchez feat. Christoph Mayer
11. I'm Already Gone
12. Deliverance
I apologise in advance for the weight of in-jokes on here which only my fellow university students will get, plus the relentless references to Chris Morris, Garth Marenghi and Bioshock. Have fun.
I am impressed with myself and my collaborator at how well this turned out given it was less than 24 hours record time over a period of five days. It was pretty awesome. 'I'm Already Gone' is without doubt among the finest stuff he or I have ever written, and we both agree we've never written anything as good collaboratively. I'd say that at least five or six of these songs could make it into regular rotation.
(BTW, the Backstreet Boys cover is forthcoming. It's terrible... but it is forthcoming).
ENJOY!

Forgot to put cover art in my zip, but click the above image for bigger version and stuff...
6 tracks of mellow instrumental stuff made with my computer, clocking in at just over 30 minutes in total:
http://www.mediaf
!re.com/?sharekey=696bec49e6d088fd7f7ec40ada4772a6e04e75f6e8ebb871
1. Mèna (12° 13' 0" N, 6° 12' 0" W)
2. Sobo (3° 30' 0" S, 119° 38' 0" E)
3. Litzldorf (46° 54' 0" N, 13° 16' 0" E)
4. Buenavista (28° 54' 0" N, 107° 34' 0" W)
5. Cabare (19° 47' 0" N, 72° 35' 0" W)
6. Ban Kra Ta Un (13° 56' 0" N, 101° 9' 0" E)
The crazy titles are due to the rules I made for myself:
1. Go to
Maplandia
and choose the first "Random location" at the bottom of the page.
2. Your track's key is the first letter of the place name that's between A and G. If there are no letters between A and G you lose. Back to step 1. If the number of letters is even, it's a major. If not, minor. If the name ends in a vowel, modulate to the second letter that's between A and G at some point. If there's only one letter between A and G, don't modulate. If the second key letter's earlier in the alphabet than the first, it's major. If not, minor.
3. The latitude numbers are to be read as a sequence of semitone intervals that you must work through at least once in yr track. i.e. 4 means move 4 semitones from the note before. Pick the starting note and direction (up or down) to get the thing to fit the key. Zero is a wildcard, choose whatever sounds best. Repeating notes and shifting octaves are fine.
4. Same again for longitude. You can put this sequence of notes before or after the latitude one, have it as a separate thing, or whatever.
5. Search the place name on Youtube. If no results, search the next bit in the geographical location on maplandia until you get a hit, e.g. Ergourdi's geographical location is "Abeche, Ouaddai, Chad, Africa". So search "Ergourdi", if no results then search "Abeche", then "Ouaddai", etc.
6. When you have a result, download the first video. You must use at least one sound from the video in your track.
7. Sampling music is not allowed, excluding any found in the above vid. This includes drum sounds - make / record some if you need percussion.
I broke my own rules once - I forgot to modulate 'Mèna' and by the time I'd realised I couldn't be fucked going back. :p
Also, the Youtube search rule turned out funny - the last track is the only one where the result I got was actually related to the place. You can imagine what "Buenavista" brought up.
If I had more time I'd certainly make a lot of changes, particularly when it comes to structuring things out, but then to be honest, I'd probably ditch half of the tracks.

I've downloaded all of the albums that look like they were finished in May, and I'm going to spend the next week or two giving them a listen. Not that my opinion matters, but I'll give a rundown of what I think once I wrapped up the listening session. Looks like a good bunch this year.

Screw it, I'm going to put it up anyway. We recorded this very quickly on a Sunday two weeks ago. The vocals aren't very high in the mix since the mic was so shitty, and we did our best to fix it but eh, what'cha gonna' do? We made some copies to give to friends which our drummer thought he lost, but he found them yesterday so hoorah!

You two have his writing style and vocal delivery down to a tee. This is a good thing, My Dad Is Dead put out some fantastic records, some of which are available for free on his website.
I recommend this one:

Listening to the album right now. I like what I hear, but I have to admit that so far I (sadly) don't really see big similarities. Anyhow, if you like our stuff I'd be glad to shamelessly promote ourselves and post some more songs.

I'm SO PISSED I didn't have any recording medium on Saturday night, because god damn it, getting blazed with my buddy and basically making up 10 pretty incredible songs right there on the spot in PERFECT SUCCESSION would've made for a great entry. We seriously rocked out for 2 hours, without a single repeat.
SO PISSED.

Just found out about this now, and am going to break the rules and do it on June 1st.
Looking more like sometime this week. There are so many things wrong with my body and my car right now.

Here 'tis. 24 hours is up and I've got my album.
KviP / Laserfag - Pitch Model
(No cover because I don't have a working Photochop. Does somebody want to make up an album cover? Anything will do)
Basically I divided up my music into composed Reason songs (KviP) and Noise remixes of songs I made with the Kaoss Pad (Laserfag).
Song titles were conceived in dreams. All in all I'd probably compare it to early Black Dog / Plaid, only not as good. I don't know if the mixing I did was any good, let me know if you notice anything muddy and / or too quiet and / or too loud.

3. White Glass
4. A Cloud
5. Bentham Paranormal
6. Mishall
7. Shipwreck
8. Diskette
9. Unsync
10. Pitch Model
(Laserfag)
11. Recognizing Your Privilege
12. Gotway
13. Well 'Ard (Laserfag Perspired Edit)

*edit - I'm told by Rob that track 4 is a tad quiet, so I've run it through Audacity and amp'd it a bit. Here's the retouched song.

so can this thing be extended past May? I am almost done with school save for final exams, and I would love to rock everyone's sock's off once I have enough time...
