Meet a girl. Make a tape. Is this still acceptable at 23? (facebook quote from friend) I didn't know there was another way? (My reply) Eliza: Making mix tapes is basically for people whose emotional development ended at 15. Nevertheless, I have still made one! haha. (his reply) That's funny, I have a wonderful boyfriend, where our relationship started by us sending each other mixes via mediaf!re, he is & has been, for a long time, single. Mixtapes make for good people, yes siree.

I have decided to make a mix called Now This Is What I Kraut-Rock.
As this was inspired by a fever dream it is probably too good a name to not already be taken.
mix will be made and posted when i am not dying.

I am beginning to pick tracks for Now This Is What I Kraut-Rock and I've run into a problem. Unless it is 2 CDs, it can end up being like 4 tracks

Mix for my Momhttp://www.mediaf!re.com/?a0ymt5dzizq 1. Brain Damage Pink Floyd2. Eleanor Rigby The Beatles3. Piano Man Billy Joel4. Come Together The Beatles5. Your Troubles From the movie The Point6. Comfortably Numb Pink Floyd7. I Want You (She's So Heavy) The BeatlesLength: 31:27 Basically, it is songs that I like from artists that my mom introduced me to, some of the songs are obviously my mom's favorites as well. There aren't that many bands, because even when I asked her for more bands, she couldn't really name any. This is awesome. May or may not post bittersweet acoustic mix. We shall see.

I have finished choosing tracks for Now This Is What I Kraut Rock
It will be uploaded shortly but I'd like to ask any of our graphically minded forumites to do a cover for it. If anyone does I'll buy them a beer upon our meeting.

once upon a time there was a boy who was making me very upset so i made a mix about him and i would listen to it while i wrote sad diary entries about how he broke my heart. you're so vain and ok this mix is about you
1 man - yeah yeah yeahs 2 my year in lists - los campesinos! 3 oh no - all girl summer fun band 4 winter - the dodos 5 pretty girl from cedar lane - avett brothers 6 wrong - archers of loaf 7 i'm sorry i love you - the magnetic fields 8 honey in the sun - camera obscura 9 i'm still crying - go sailor it's a pretty silly mix but hey, being in love with the wrong person is a pretty universal sentiment. maybe someone else will get some venting use out of it too.

For me, making a mixtape is about thinking about who you're going to give it to and lovingly compiling it and decorating the case. If people were interested, I think it would be cool to do an exchange where everyone makes a mixtape for someone else and posts it via snail mail.

See Land - NEU!! 4. No Harm - Faust 5. Light-Look At Your Sun - Ash Ra Tempel 6. Luzifer's Ghilom - Amon Düül II 7. High time someone saved this thread I think. http://www.mediaf!re.com/?muoto4wy3ng Tracklist: 1 British Sea Power - The smallest church in Sussex 2 The Drift - Fractured then gathered (reprise) 3 Adam Gnade & Youthmovies - We were born from floodwaters 4 Tarentel - Elephant shoes 5 Fennesz - A year in a minute 6 M83 - Tsubasa 7 Sinner DC - Win the sun pt. 2 8 Fuck Buttons - Phantom limb 9 Health - In violet 10 Tarentel - Klankity-klank 11 Noveller - Rainbows 12 The Lucksmiths - Mars 43:00Lots of drone/ambient/noise this time around, with a bit of electronics in the mid section. Mixed in Audacity, which is so much easier to use than the Traktor Scratch used for my previous mixtape. It helps that there's no beatmatching in here though. Does anyone know how to do that in Audacity btw?

Yes. Calculate the BPM of the tracks in question and slow or speed up until they match.
If you are into EDM, calculating BPM by hand is something everyone should do, software can sometimes make mistakes and more importantly, it helps you know your tracks better.

That's what I thought, I just really miss a pitch slider in Audacity. That would make it so much easier.
Just to clarify a bit, I used to play around on my roommate's Traktor setup but since he moved I now need to find some other software (and/or hardware). Audacity is good enough when you want to make mixtapes, which is what I'll be doing most of the time anyway. It's even better suited for that than Traktor because you don't have to do it all in one take. Very calming. The downside is that there are so much more options when you're not doing it in one take. Very time consuming. And beatmatching isn't as effortless (more or less) as it is in Traktor. Maybe I should just find a torrent for Ableton. Seems like that's the best of both worlds.

You can use Mixmeister and set cue points for the tracks where it will automatically alter the end of one track to match the next. It is up to you how long the transition is and it is really quite useful if you don't know how/can't be bothered to match up the BPM for yourself.

I'll take a look at it, but it sort of sounds like Ableton for dummies. A program that does everything for you isn't what I'm looking for.
