Hi everyone. Kinda new here, though I've been reading the comic for a long time. Just was bored and figured this seems as good a place as any to try and socialize. ^_^

Hmm... I've never been all that good at talking about myself, but I can try. Just don't be surprised if it's horribly boring. grin

I'm a freelance author, so I write a lot of things like magazine and newspaper articles, and articles for websites. Sometimes they sell great, sometimes I hit a dry spot, but such is the curse of freelance work. I try to stick to topics I'm interested in, as I feel a truly interested author makes for a much better piece, but, well, sometimes bills come before pesky things like integrity. I'm also working on a novel, but then, I don't think you can find someone who writes for a living regardless of field that isn't. Still a long way from being worth printing.

My girlfriend is an English major studying to become a teacher. She should have her degree next year, which is exciting. We plan on moving in together once she has steady work, which is also exciting. She's also working on a novel, and it's quite a bit further along than my own, but still a ways until she attempts to get it published.

I really like video games, especially RPGs. My favorite games ever are the Pokémon games. I've played them since they first came out and don't plan on stopping any time soon. I'm kind of disappointed with the newest games coming out though, HeartGold and SoulSilver, modern remakes of the GB-era Gold and Silver games. I've just always felt that the 2nd generation of games was the least enjoyable because it suffered from some rather serious drawbacks, most of which the remakes don't really address, and many of the new additions to the remakes seem like serious missteps to me. Sorry for blabbing about stuff no one probably cares about. ^_^;

I'm also a big fan of Dungeons & Dragons, and WarHammer 40,000. Working on building an Eldar army right now. Having some fun with that.

Dunno what else to say, really... ^_^;

I used to do freelance work (musician) and I know how hard it is.  When people ask me what type of music I play, I always respond "What do you want, and how much does it pay?" in not as many words.  Good on you if you can do it.

The avatar is of Dawn (blue hair) and Zoey (red hair) from the Diamond and Pearl arc of the Pokemon anime. It's actually a picture inspired by a fanfic I wrote, and the artwork is so wonderful I started using it as my avatar on forums and such. The original can be seen here (http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w35/trainercardproductions/newyearfanart.jpg) as the avatar is a bit distorted.

But yeah, the freelance work has it's ups and downs. On one hand, thanks to the internet, I'm not as limited in clients as a musician might be. On the other hand, I have a lot more competition for space. Sometimes I can make a month's living in a day, and sometimes I don't sell a piece for 3 months. I just have to hope it all evens out, though I've managed to scrape by so far. Not the kind of thing I want to do forever if it can be avoided, though.
