This one kind of reminds me of something Janis Ian wrote on her blog. She had always been puzzled by fans who would stand in line to meet her, then blather something like Marigold just did and run away. Now, it turns out that Ms. Ian is also a science fiction fan, and a few years ago finally went to her first con. There, someone introduced her to Connie Willis... and she suddenly understood her fans a lot better.

It's rather definitely Randall of xkcd fame. Look at his photo on the xkcd wikipedia page. And I think the sign does say Sketches Free, and the drawing is definitely Black Hat Guy.
Yeah, the hair color is pretty close and Jeph caught Randall's slightly cleft chin.
Plus the "I *heart* math" shirt helps too.

I kind of want to be famous
just
so I can see a fan do this.
That's the only reason you want to be famous? That's one reason I want to be famous, but there are many others.

Hanners is simply prioritizing her worries. While Marigold is hurt and upset, worrying about her friend takes priority. As soon as Marigold calms down and Hanners is certain she's OK, then she'll be free to freak out about the blood.

I can empathize...Connie Willis is amazing. If only she'd write more novels, not those unsatisfactory novelle (cue discussion of s-less plurals).

I just wish the Daedric font i downloaded would work here, then i could really freak a few people out...
I Dont get "fans" at all. Sure, theres the whole 'I'm in close proximity to a famous person" thing, but what they seem to be forgeting is the 'person' part. FAMOUS PEOPLE ARE PEOPLE TOO!
On another note, Hanners not freaking out over blood! YOU GO GIRL!...
...of course, it could be that, like me, its only
her own blood
that freaks her out, but im pretty sure Hanners herself disproved that theory at some point (not sure which strip specificaly -it was during the worry hat saga- but she mentions her issues with blood being the pathogen carrying potential)...

I know we're kind of off the subject, but I hate the way people use plural words as singular words and then pluralize them further. Two examples of this are "alumni" and "ravioli", which are both plural, the singular forms of which are "alumnus" and "raviolo". I hear "alumnis" and "raviolis" all the time.
That is why it drives me crazy to see shirts and bumper stickers saying Proud alumni of Such-and-Such University. I am an alumna, and I like to think my education taught me the difference between singular and plural words.

Great comic, 1528, with the anime/manga themes.
Pity Faye is not here to see Marten, that would have probably made quite a few people LOL'd.
I really like how Hannerlore is "mentoring" Marigold, it really shows how far Hanners has come as a character, and the positive cycle of helping others (being helped yourself, and then you helping others).

The other option, of course, would be that Dora promised him something reeeaaalllyyy good if he went along with this, but for something like that it would have been up there with a Dora-Faye-Tai foursome.

And now Marten gets to lose his dignity - you're a guy, get over it!
How else could Marigold have lost her dignity?
Asked him to sign a body part 5 (10.2%)
Stood there staring silently for 5 minutes 20 (40.8%)
Let's not go there, no one needs to see that 18 (36.7%)
Forget Marigold - What's with the inappropriate touching? This is all a ploy to get us coming back, isn't it? 6 (12.2%)
Total Voters: 49
Personally, I would hope that we wouldn't need to see whatever else could have cost her her dignity, but (insert German word for taking pleasure from the misfortune of others here) is what makes the comic go round.

It's about time we got some more cruelty to Marten. We've had the anime sweat-drop from Momo-tan, and now blood spurting out of Marigold's nose. What next in the cavalcade of anime conventions? Fay pulling a huge sledge-hammer out of nowhere to attack an annoying patron at the CoD? The Malaysian Battle Spatula revealed as one of those ridiculously oversized anime swords?

So is that third guy in line there for a picture, or a hug? He's got his wallet out - maybe both!
I'd hope the money's going to charity, but Marten's
earned
his share of it!
So, name your favorite anime/manga related charity -
Chronic Nosebleed Network?
Home for Wayward Chibi Characters (a no-kill shelter)?
Yaoi Intervention Society (putting deserving couples together since 1983)?

Am I the only one that noticed the tuft of pubic hair peeking from Marten's pants? I've heard of low rider jeans, but that's ridiculous. Also, I have to now go scrub my brain at the thought of encountering a guy in public doing that
And why are his nipples circles?
Also, Deathnote shirt, Haruhi Jacket, Nrrd Con shirt, and a porcupine something shirt with domo-kun on it. Looking to increase your variety of merchandise, Jeph?

I thought it was called a treasure trail? This strip made me laugh so hard, easily the funniest so far this month.

The Question: Blue overcoat. Fedora.
Huntress: You really stink at this.

Marigold should get contacts. Not that her priorities involve fashion in any way, but she really does look better without those glasses.

Today we learned:
Marigold looks adorable without glasses.
Dora bears an increasingly eerie resemblance to Marten. I swear, first in 1524 I mistook Dora for Marten, and now in this one too! If there was ever a good reason for Dora going blonde, it would be to stop looking so much like him.

I hope the pictures dont get to Marten's mom, she might think he is seriously considering going into the family business, like when he told her he taught Tai how to do the japanese knot.
