Maybe, but if you have a mobile construction vehicle ...
I cursed those Ordos gastanks 'till I was blue in the face. Hateful, spiteful fuckers costing me way too many harvesters. Good reason to buy them by the dozen from the spaceguild.
I think I might re-install the game today. Just for kicks.

The first couple of Ratchet & Clank games; how could you not? Especially since you could get old weapons in the newer games through your memory card.

And it's fucking Ratchet and Clank.
Be sure to play the first one first, as the lack of strafing makes it unplayable after playing any of the later ones.

Replaying Ratchet and Clank games? If you haven't played any of them you mind as well play them all in sequential order. Or at least the console ones. Honestly though, I think the games have run out of steam, Crack in Time was ok to play but it really didn't have nearly as much charm as the ps2 games did. I also read an interview with the president of Insomniac who says that they're probably just going to put out a new Ratchet game every year.
Also going to add that Assassins Creed 2 has all the re-playability of the first, which is none.

On a somewhat related note. What PC games are there that have an equally feel good attitude as Spiderman 2 did? I want a game that I can cruise through Manhattan in an awesome way to blow off steam. The actual saving people (or killing people) part is really secondary.

I haven't played Spiderman 2, but Prototype springs to mind.
It's going to be very hard (it already is) to ignore all the sweet holiday deals the online shops have been showing off, but I'm planning to hold out on buying any more new games for a while to replay the ones that I haven't got everything out of yet. When I get through Borderlands I'll reinstall Fallout 3 and cram it full with the best mods I can find. If that doesn't keep me busy until the next big release wave, then I'll add Mass Effect to that.

So I missed the boat the first time around, I guess. I just started playing Dwarf Fortress. I would recommend someone replay it, as I have literally been seeing little dudes running around whenever I close my eyes.
Now if I could just keep that pike from killing everyone.

I'm currently replaying Diablo 1 (The fuuuuucking atmosphere is soooo greeeat!), and Might and Magic 7/8, although I quit 7 due to a bug. I'll probably try to work around it, but not right now.
Why don't they make RPGs like these any more? There's a simple joy that I haven't been able to find in anything modern - that instant immersion, the simplistic gameplay that's so hard to master, the leveling and item collection system that brings real differences to the game, real joy.
the best thing about Diablo was probably rediscovering the soundtrack. Tristram sounds better than anywhere else in gaming.

I've never really enjoyed Diablo style RPGs that much. I tried playing Torchlight when it was on sale over the holidays due to its near universal acclaim, but it affirmed that that type of game does nothing for me. I guess the drive for shinier loot has never been enough of a hook for me, and I find the incessant clicking to be mind-numbing at a point.

The sad thing is that there's a surprising amount of build customization that actually matters available in torchlight. It's just about as nuanced as the format allows, basically. Too bad it's a limited format.

In other news, it's Spring Break and I feel like I might start up another new game of either Neverwinter Nights 2 or Baldur's Gate 2.

It's amazing how all of the old isometric RPGs still look so good - with the high res mod some of the settings still wow me, and I've played most of the games a ridiculous number of times.

I'm no Luddite or hater of 3d in general, but I do find it somewhat bittersweet that so many people preferred 3d graphics in the mid-to-late '90s. I'll grant you there was some gameplay advantages for certain genres, but I often felt like I was in the minority for preferring the looks of a well put together 2d title like Chronotrigger over say, Battle Arena Toshinden: On the bright side, it's easy to feel somewhat vindicated now that games like Yoshi's Island and the early Marvel vs. Capcom titles have aged so much better than their contemporaries.

Got it. Doesn't have the same atmosphere as Diablo. Or it's just the nostalgia. But it's good nevertheless.

Hey, I loved Yoshi's Story when I was a kid! That said, I tried to play it a couple of weeks ago and couldn't get past the first level. It was horrible.

Yeah, Yoshi's Story was basically a much shorter version of Yoshi's Island with worse level design, which is a shame because the egg throwing mechanic was always kind of irritating even in Yoshi's Island. The original got by on being a clever little charmer and the sequel just didn't have that going for it.
