Alright, some of the login problems folks have been having might actually be due to a DOS attack that the Kerplunc servers have been hit with recently, and is currently being blamed on why I can't access the SFTP server at the moment. Nothing has totally dropped, though this means I won't be able to update the map until I get back from family things (bleh) next week, but it might have some service hiccups until the DOS folks get bored.

so i mostly finished my xp grinder. it's a little buggy (zombies temporarily glitch out of their containment area, they dont seem to get hit even when they're hit in the right place a lot of the time, etc), but i think that's mostly due to lag. I'm prob gonna try and figure out a good way to fix it up, but I'm going to china for a few weeks tomorrow so i won't have time till next year.

It's over at x=244, z=422 if anyone's interested in checking it out

i wish rotten flesh was good for something. anyone heard of any mods which make it have some use, or rumors that some good functionality will be added?

Oi, Magma Cubes have a chance to drop magma cream now! That ought to make potions of fire resistance a lot easier to get, when you don't have to go underground for slimes, and don't have to use precious blaze powder to craft it.

Did you guys get a chance to start brewing in multiplayer yet? You can have a lot of fun with potions of fire resistance.

I've been doing a bit of it, but since my current projects doesn't involve the nether, I'm not needing any of it. I'm definitely going to start brewing large numbers of potions of speed or whatever they're named if I'm going to do a lot of travelling above ground.

I am super impressed by the sea-port on the island just by the underwater portal in the sea. When I first saw that island, I thought it'd be a sweet place for a harbor, but you have done a stellar job compared to anything I could have done.

Minecraft Legos Preorders available now, altho its $35 for a 480 piece set. If I had a kid, or knew that I would have time to play around with them, I'd def go for it. However, I have no time and no kid.

So, pretty close to spawn, on a mountaintop right next to my place, somebody has started mining out a place - made some dirt walls and clearing ground. Does anyone know who's been working on that? I don't think anyone has done any work on it for a while.

I kind of want to expand my place that way, but if somebody's got plans, I'll stay away.

I really wish I could get back into Minecraft to try out all these new things, but every time I start a new world I just get bored halfway through building my first base. The best remedy to this is to wipe my memory of all things Minecraft, but since I can't do that (yet), I'll go for the next best thing and plug all sources of information about Minecraft and try to start again when it has receded from my consciousness for a while. So maybe I'll see y'all when 1.5 rolls around!

Forgive me if this has been covered, but does anybody know if there are any plans to release a Minecraft that isn't as graphically demanding? My only computer is a Netbook and I can play it, but only at 3 or 4 frames per second on the lowest settings.

That... is a slow computer. Tried windowed mode? That should make the game render less stuff, which will improve performance. If you are desperate, you can boot with almost nothing running (don't start any background programs, indexers, firewalls or virus searchers, dump steam, torrent, avast, explorer itself), but remember to don't do anything else internet-related at that point, as viruses.

Minecraft runs on Java, which is generally much heavier than other programming languages - it talks to a virtual machine that talks to the hardware, instead of going straight down - so you'll probably not get it to run properly on anything slow. It also loads a shitton of objects at once, so it'll eat up a lot of your ram.

Though, if you have something comparable to what's specified here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Hardware_performance, and you still get a lot of lag, there might be a problem somewhere else. Do you have an integrated video card? That'll make it pretty difficult for you to get much performance out of anything.

It's stock everything (I haven't looked into it, but I'm pretty sure I can't upgrade the video card). It's actually a pretty powerful little computer. the only thing it can't do it graphics. Oh well... I'll have to get my cube fix from Ace of Spades, which runs perfectly fine.

Just spent ~2 hours terramorphing my mountain top to be more flat in preparation for building The Cathedral. Don't have like any coal or any way down now. Lots of monsters in the cavern/cave beneath me.
Originally I was going to chip away at the mountain until the entirety of the cavern was revealed to the sunlight, causing there to be no creatures spawning any more, but that seemed like it would be way more work than flattening it all out a bunch.

Alright, confirm with me if this is just an older map again. If it is, I think the FTP server I'm connecting to is just older files. If that's the case, I just need to find out if I just didn't get that information when they did the server updates.

Ok, good news is that the server is back up and running as it was on Monday. Shouldn't be anything missing I don't think. On the other hand, the map I'm generating is still the same map as before.

Once again, I'll try to get that fixed, but this time I'll try doing it without killing the server.

Haven't had a chance to play much with all the video editing I've been doing, but had to share this.

Minecraft Wedding.

I wasn't there, but it happened at a local art gallery that host various events and that I've been to often for music shows. Just a lot of neat props and design that went into this.

I made something new on the server! In addition, there's no an underground railroad that goes from my castle almost all the way to the far islands, as the nether keeps being silly and changing and getting borked.

Anyways here's the picture of the fresh sand city:

It's just south of my keep, which is coming along nicely.
