I didn't care about the show for a long time, but there was a thread on another forum about it and they convinced me to watch it. I watched the first three seasons at a rate of three or four episodes a night and I was very surprised that I liked it. Every time I started getting bored of it, the thing would pull me in with one of those ridiculous cliffhangers. Definitely one of the best dramas in a long, long time. It did take a while to stop seeing White as Hal from Malcom in the Middle.

No, Walter won't survive (unless they decide to make another season after the "final" season...) The way I see it, there are four possible endings:
1) Walter dies of cancer (this is the closest that the show would be able to get to a "Walt gets away with it" ending)
2) Mike comes back from Mexico and kills Walter (he has all the reason in the world, after all...)
3) Jesse kills Walt (perhaps after finding out about how Jane died, or about what happened at the end of season 4)
4) Hank arrests or kills Walt (Hank has been treated pretty badly throughout the show. This would throw him a bone at the end of the show, sort of, in that he finally catches Heisenberg).

Then again, I could be, and likely am, entirely wrong. I have no knowledge of the future.  :psyduck:

While I agree, there's always complications with everything

1) Likely, but most obvious, besides he's been in remission since the end of season one
2) Mike has no more employer so there's no more loyalty Mike has to worry about, if anything he's been freed of obligations, the only thing I can think he'd be pissed about is being stranded in Mexico
3) Another likely but obvious outcome
4) I think Hank would get himself killed before he let's Hank take him to jail, so he might end up another Pablo.

My best guess is Walt would suicide by cops, although I don't know the future either, and I'm starting to think this Bandicoot is fucking with me.

It'd be a nice callback to the very first episode.  :psyduck:

Yeah it would be, although I'm sure it'll be much more explosive than him in his man-panties in the middle of the desert. :police: :police: :police:

YES http://warmingglow.uproxx.com/2012/05/the-best-show-on-tv-returns-july-15th

Of course, I think it's completely ridiculous and altogether too money-grubbing for my taste that the network decided to split the final 16 episodes in half and show them a whole fucking year apart, but with Breaking Bad I'll take whatever I can get.

So it's more or less two small seasons that the marketers decided to label THE FINAL SEASON to build up hype.

Despite this I am still ridiculously excited.

It's back!! Hell yeah. And it's just as good as always. In other words, still the best show on TV.

I guess it would make sense that the "Mike comes back from Mexico to kill Walter" idea didn't occur: if it did the last season(s) would only be ten minutes long... I could try to guess the future based on the future-Walt scene in the beginning of episode 1, but considering what they did with the scenes in season 2, any guess is 100% likely to be wrong.

One thing I'm thinking of, though, is who outside the drug community knows Walt's secret? Jesse's counselor could probably guess based on the information he has, but he has no solid evidence. Skyler's lawyer knows everything she knew in season 3, but can't reveal it due to attorney-client privilege. Gretchen Schwartz has reason to suspect Walter, but again no evidence (all she really knows is that he was getting money from somewhere and pretending it came from her). Any others I'm missing?

Walt Jr might suspect something, but seems to be oblivious.  The only other one I can think who might suspect is Hank (who wouldn't let on till he had all the evidence)  Other than that all I can think of is the nursing home, who might've spotted Walter coming and going before the blast.

To be fair, I kind of saw it coming when Walt opened the bag and saw the gun there. But still, the way it was done made up for the fact that it wasn't a surprise.  And like cesium said, perhaps the best last words ever.

This half-season is just confirming the obvious: Breaking Bad remains the best show on TV by a comfortable margin

My prediction for the last show of next season: Storage Wars Albuquerque. Barry Weiss buys a storage locker for $1 containing just a blanket over a big block of something and makes $100 million off of it.  :psyduck:

I've watched seasons 1-3, but not 4 yet.  I have 4 downloaded, so I'll have to check it out now.  I'm probably going to wait until 5 is over before I start watching.  I've gotten spoiled by watching shows with no interruptions, and a cliffhanger literally only takes about 30 seconds to clear up (as long as it takes me to start the next episode).

But yes, this is damn good television.  There are very few series that I like anymore, and it has to be pretty remarkable for me to even notice it on TV - this one goes waaaaay above and beyond that.

Good stuff.

Not sure if waiting is the best idea, mainly because this first half of season 5 which just concluded is so short (8 episodes), and if you're waiting for the whole shebang to wrap up you'll have to put if off for another year.

On that note, I REALLY don't want to wait 10 months to see more. I realize that Vince Gilligan basically demanded that AMC let him do it this way and that it's for creative reasons and that, ultimately, it's for the good of the show. But god dammit I'm impatient at the best of times and BB really knows how to end on crazy cliff hangers (this most recent episode as an prime example).

It's been approximately a year since I finished season 3, I don't mind waiting on the rest of season 5 being out before I watch.  :)

If you were able to wait a year after the end of season 3 (without having to), then you'll be better off than most of us.  I remember watching season 3 as it aired (the first season I watched live after catching up during the offseason and...waiting for season 4 was not easy.

Season 5 is over, it ended last night.

No, just the mid-season break.  The rest will come out sometime in 2013...if the apocolypse doesn't happen first.
