Hello World
« on: 09 Aug 2012, 09:33 »

I've been a lurker since Momo got her new chassis, this strip to be precise: http://www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2070, (and did the whole archive binge thing over a few weekends), and stayed on all through the space station arc which was awesome. I finally registered to put in my two cents about the Tai-Dora relationship (fingers crossed), and I figured I'd say hi already.

So I'm in the Midwest as my username says, I am going into the third year of a physics/astronomy undergrad degree, I play the upright/double bass and follow the White Sox, speak a little bit of French and Russian, and I really should be coding an equation right now.

My avatar is this sweet kiss between my favorite TV couple: two police officers from a Spanish TV show, Pepa Miranda and Silvia Castro from Los hombres de Paco.

And Go White Sox!

Welcome!

Until the space station arc, I'd check in usually on a Friday and look over what happened that week. Then, as soon as Hannelore mentioned a party on a space station, I was hooked. I'd lurk in the thread and see the math battles erupt with glee.

Greetings Program

This summer I've been working with Python. Programming isn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, but compared to data analysis it's sort of tedious. At least "Hello World" was darn easy.

Python is fun, although I tend to prefer Perl.

Eh, far better than the [censored] Cubs.

Changed my avatar to one of my favorite QC moments.

Perl is crazy - no other word for it; but incredibly powerful in the right circumstances.  Extraordinarily hard to read, which is why it's been referred to as "write-only code".
