Just heard, these two ace bands are no more collective units of awesome music-making.

The individuals will no doubt do more, but the bands are, for the forseeable future, ex-bands. (news courtesy of www.drownedinsound.com)

When I read the title of this topic I thought you mean't they were making a split 7"

It's always sad to see a band break up.

Dammit, I missed "Lightsabre Cocksucking Blues" and "To Hell with good intentions" last time I saw Mclusky live, too.

Tis a sad day indeed.

I'm not particularly surprised by the Unicorns break-up. There was apparently a lot of tension on their last touring stint. McLusky, though? Shit!

I heard all kind of crazy things about the unicorns. For one I heard yes they were going to make a hip hop record. Secondly I heard they intended to collaborate with Unicorn (A harsh noise unit) to produce a set of several 3cm CDs. Of course knowing the unicorns this could have just been a wall of crap they threw up.

I saw Mclusky twice, at Reading festival last year and also on their last tour. Both times they were highly rad, even though I'm only just know starting to get through their recorded output.

Was hoping to see The Unicorns tour the UK soon as their album is just recently come out over here. Not gonna happen o' course, but at least I have lovely indie pop to recall them by...

Actually, I would assume it to be quite the opposite.

The Unicorns broke up? T_T Damn it all. That's all I can really say, just "damn".

It was, b-side on their last single, and one of my fave song titles ever from their first album: 'whiteliberalonwhitelberalaction'

the Unicorns always seemed kind of flakey (i dig them, but...) so that's not surprising. I remember they were talking about how they were going to record a hiphop record next, and how they'd sold all their stuff to live in a van together. i don't know if that was true, but man, that can't be healthy.

mclusky sucks though. i love those hooligans.

I heard on good authority that the Unicorns breaking up is a dirty lie. Made to create press.

However, the McClusky thing makes me sad.
