Either way this isn't good. If he did pass, then we have lost a great creative force on this Earth. He was a good artist, with a skill for creating realistic characters. If he didn't and this turns out to be a hoax, there will be a lot of questions as to why the hell someone would do something like that.
That also points me to believe that is wasn't a hoax. The moderators and Jeph do not seem like the kind of people who would pull this kind of stunt.

starting to believe more and more of this is a hoax. i just searched thru the obituaries of 7 Massachusettes newspapers...no Jeph Jacques, neither yesterday or today.
So now I'm believing its false, however, who did this then? I doubt Jeph would try to fake death on his own. someone else probably tried to pull it. Notice how there hasn't been many details on it at all. Just that he got hit by a car. Maybe some random person, trying to be a wiseass, posted that in wikipedia and waited to see how long it would take for commotion to stir up here, and maybe Jeph had something important going on this weekend, so he hasn't been on to check the forums or his email or anything. Since I am sure his email is bombarded with "Are you DEAD?" messages.
nothing has been talked about on his LJ...on myspace...anything...there is no hint of ANYTHING anywhere else. you think that a friend or christi or someone would have announced his death somewhere if it was true.

Why I think its a hoax:
1. The Wikipedian Poster claimed someone had donated 1500$, then changed it to remove that claim.
2. No Obituaries Mentioning it
3. Poster on Wikipedia also claimed the community was downtrodden, however, Wikipedia had it before we did
4. Perfect time to strike. Before a weekend and holiday, they expected Jeph to be out of town and unable to check on the forum, or anybody else to be able to counter-claim jeph's "death"
All in all, it seems to be a well executed hoax.
For those of you who demand solid proof, I'm sad to say that'll have to wait till Monday.

we're not SURE it's false, but there's evidence pointing in that direction. the wikipedia page is the only public source, and it was updated yesterday afternoon, BEFORE jeph updated his newspost with the link to comixpedia and BEFORE he supposedly died in the evening. a couple of forum-goers confirmed his death last night, but we don't know who/what they're using as a source.
there's no official word and the signs are somewhat mixed, but i would tentatively call this a hoax.

Mnementh claims that it happened Friday Afternoon, but Awkward says it was in the evening. Both say that it happened AFTER it was posted on Wikipedia, and Inlander says he has a source to confirm its a hoax, but he won't tell us who his source is(I think thats what he ment).
I say its a hoax, because of the $1500 thing that was mentioned earlier.
I just wish someone related/close to Jeph would post a denial/confirmation. Its just, well, sucky not knowing 100%.

Well one of them is posting in here with us at the least. One person was saying we should be let out of the dark and that the others are mean for doing this, yet still that person does nothing.
