I would like to make the following QC predictions for 2013.
• The return of Padma.
• Pintsize discovers an estranged evil twin.
• Momo flirts with Sven.
• Hanners dates a robot… again (possibly Station).
• Dora-Tai-Claire threesome.
• Penny disappears without explanation.
• Angus and Faye breakup.
• The return of holopony.
• Marigold finds an earthbound source of Space Ham.
Ok, maybe this is more of a wishlist.
-
predictions wishlist:
- Faye falls into a lake (although I may have missed my best chance at that)
- Sven and Marten go to a show
- Momo and Sven get together
- An otter appears as a substory character which Yelling Bird lusts after
-
I would like to make the following QC predictions for 2013.
• The return of Padma - And she's pregnant!!!
• Pintsize discovers an estranged evil twin. And in the end it's discovered that Pintsize is the actual evil twin.
• Momo flirts with Sven, but eventually hooks up with Steve.
• Hanners dates a robot… again (possibly Station). Eventually, she has an affair with Spaceship.
• Dora-Tai-Claire threesome. They eventually move in together with Veronica Vance.
• Penny disappears without explanation. We eventually find out she's now MIB and ...... *Flash* Huh?
• Angus and Faye breakup. Angus joins a Trappist Monastery and Faye hooks up with Agent Turing.
• The return of holopony and he's not happy.[/i]
• Marigold finds an earthbound source of Space Ham and it's Dale!!
Ok, maybe this is more of a wishlist.
FIFY :-D
-
So is Dale the supplier of Space Ham or is Dale actually the Space Ham? I'm confused.
-
So is Dale the supplier of Space Ham or is Dale actually the Space Ham? I'm confused.
Yes.
Dale is part Shmoo.
-
That may need a Wikipedia lookup, considering it ran in Li'l Abner in 1948. Or is it thoroughly embedded in the popular culture?
-
tension betwen faye and Beefy
something about padma
pintsize gets an upgrade
Momo gets mistaken by somebody for something else
question- is claire attracted to men or women?
-

Probably not. But this crowd knows how to research.
-
tension betwen faye and Beefy
Who's Beefy?
question- is claire attracted to men or women?
Men, apparently (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2301).
-
Who's Beefy?
Angus. Like the cow.

Men, apparently (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2301).
Dang, you didn't let me make a twenty bucks joke.
-
I would be sad if Angus and Faye broke up. I like Angus.
My prediction is that the franken-Roomba's children return to exact revenge upon Pintsize and Winslow.
-
Who's Beefy?
Angus. Like the cow.

Marten will mope.
-
Everyone will be wrong.
-
Jeph goes nutso again, changes QC into nothing but Holopony 4koma strips.
Everyone will be wrong.
Don't be mean.
-
• Pintsize discovers an estranged evil twin. And in the end it's discovered that Pintsize is the actual evil twin.
FIFY :-D
That's not fixed; it's just redundant.
-
Marten will mope.
And we have our winner for most accurate prediction for 2013!
Side note: it also would have won the award for years 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012
congratulations champion!
-
My prediction for 2013 - we will read the comics faithfully, and then indulge in varying degrees of fanwank, analysis and (hopefully) good natured criticism.
-
Faye decides to get a boob-job and then opens a sheet-metal fabrication shop specializing in "dangerous coffee-makers!"
Angus gets offered the job of his dreams but decides to stay local because "the coffee down there sucks!"
Marigold accidentally uploads questionable pics of herself the 'net and is discovered by a nerd-centric marketing company!
Hanners tests a new OCD med and becomes EVEN MORE WEIRD!
Dora and Tai hook up. Often. With great vigor!
Martin is accidentally injected with Testosterone, grows a pair, gets some spine and decides to make some serious changes -- only to have it wear off two strips later!
-
Martin is accidentally injected with Testosterone, grows a pair, gets some spine and decides to make some serious changes -- only to have it wear off two strips later!
But first, he has to decide what he wants. Besides a cheeseburger.
-

But first, he has to decide what he wants. Besides a cheeseburger.
And a haircut. Don't forget a haircut.
-
He needs someone to guide them through figuring out his goals. Someone to ask "What do you want?".
Someone like Morden.
-
Momo and Sam become crime fighters and must defeat Pizza Girl.
-
Momo and Sam become crimefighters and join Pizza Girl to defeat Dale. Then Momo tries to fix Dale up with Marigold.
-
Marigold freaks and becomes the QC Dr. Evil.
-
Pintsize uploads himself into Momo's old chassis and becomes Dr. Evilgold's Mini-me.
-
> The return of Padma.
... who ?
> Pintsize discovers an estranged evil twin.
1. Pintsize is a robot, thus he never was born, thus no "twin"
2. It would be a good twin, if at all
> Momo flirts with Sven.
> Hanners dates a robot… again (possibly Station).
Hmm naah we already had those. Moving on, moving on.
> Dora-Tai-Claire threesome.
...
Yeah, right ... *slowly moves backward*
> Penny disappears without explanation.
Oh, this didnt happen yet ?
> Angus and Faye breakup.
Those two ? Why ?!?
> The return of holopony.
> Marigold finds an earthbound source of Space Ham.
Meh.
-
- Jeph finally introduces Harriet as a love interest... for Jim.
- Claire gets caught in a weird love triangle between herself, Marigold and Dale.
- Hannelore, at some point, comments on how weird Emily is.
- As just as Jeph probably doesn't want to do it, we get to see Marten's dad's wedding.
- ...And for some strange reason, mom was invited!
-
Interesting things have happened in QC that Jeph said he'd never do, usually because he's developed more confidence as an artist. For example, we've seen quite a bit of Faye. So I'm holding out hope for the wedding.
Perhaps Veronica has been invited to be the ... something or other ... of honor; she would probably object to either the term "maid" or "matron." Maybe she'll give Henry away, or auction him off.
I'd say Dora still has an excellent chance to be flower girl.
I can see Hanners and Emily each trying to out-weird the other but -- like the question of who Pizza Girl actually is, or how the Bros enter or leave a room -- it should never, ever be resolved.
-
Madam of honour?
-
- Jeph finally introduces Harriet as a love interest... for Jim.
Jim from the Secret Bakery, or Jim from the bar?
-
Hannelore, Raven, and Emily go out for pizza and create the Weirdness Singularity.
-
- Jeph finally introduces Harriet as a love interest... for Jim.
Jim from the Secret Bakery, or Jim from the bar?
Yes.
-
Hannelore, Raven, and Emily go out for pizza and create the Weirdness Singularity.
... with Penelope.
-
Things will happen, events will occur and comments will be made. Shenanigans will also be involved.
-
- Jeph finally introduces Harriet as a love interest... for Jim.
Jim from the Secret Bakery, or Jim from the bar?
Yes.
What if Jim from the bar and Jim from the bakery are secretly the same person? :psyduck:
-
Shhhhhhh!
-
Keep it secret
Keep it safe
-
Things will happen, events will occur and comments will be made. Shenanigans will also be involved.
Quotes will be made. Discussion will take place. Hilarity could ensue.
-
In other words, same shit, different year.
-
I can see Momo flirting with Sven. Most of these not so much.
Jeph goes nutso again, changes QC into nothing but Holopony 4koma strips.
That could work. But it won't happen.
Momo and Sam become crimefighters and join Pizza Girl to defeat Dale. Then Momo tries to fix Dale up with Marigold.
Plausible.
- Hannelore, at some point, comments on how weird Emily is.
Hannelore, Raven, and Emily go out for pizza and create the Weirdness Singularity.
... with Penelope.
That could work!
My prediction? Things will get weird and uncomfortable between Claire and...probably Marten. Maybe Claire and Steve. Possibly Claire and Hanners. Cosette may strike Claire at some point.
-
Marten will mope.
And we have our winner for most accurate prediction for 2013!
I have another prediction (or two):
Marten will stop moping by the end of the year! Pintsize finds that too much weirdness to cope with.
-
That's like suggesting that Shinji will attain true happiness in Evangelion.
-
Having finished the book she's reading, Harriet will show off her knowledge with cataclysmic results. It may involve pushing the green "go" button on the right side of her chair. Perhaps she'll aim at Yelling Bird.
-
Things will happen, events will occur and comments will be made. Shenanigans will also be involved.
Quotes will be made. Discussion will take place. Hilarity could ensue.
And don't forget the side dishes of fanboyism and nerd-rage.
One theoretical possibility is that Pintsize gives up on the porn (statistically, it's not impossible. Improbable, probably). What he does after that is anyone's guess.
-
Starts moping.
-
I'll mind the wet floors then.
-
Wait, are you talking about using a mope on the floors after Harriet barfs?
-
Along with Handy Andy
-
OK, some fun predictions from me about more or less the whole gang.
- Marten will find someone to smooch. I hate to see the poor boy suffer. But he will mope, probably both before and after smooching. And I think it will be a new girl rather than anyone in the comic already.
- Sven will get over Faye and start dating again, which might get serious if he find someone (blonde) with bigger than Faye
- Hanners will bring in more odd cadgets like the invisible flying machine she arrived at the party in.
- Faye and Angus get serious and get a new apartment together, forcing Marigold to move in with Marten
- Pintsize will become more involved in the main story again. I miss him.
- Dora and Tai will continue to smooch. A lot.
- The interns will disappear from the main storyline unless they gets involved romantically with someone, though I find that unlikely. They will continue to be minor characters though, esp Claire and Emily might be thrown in now and then for good measure.
- The Skullmaster (Sam) will create hitherto unimaginable trouble, or at least trouble noone but Pintsize has managed before.
-
That's like suggesting that Shinji will attain true happiness in Evangelion.
Marten has been growing more of a spine and being a trainer has forced him to be decisive. I think his moping days are numbered.
OK, some fun predictions from me about more or less the whole gang.
- Sven will get over Faye and start dating again, which might get serious if he find someone (blonde) with bigger than Faye
I suspect that Faye's influence would linger with him and his taste in women would change.
However, it may get more involved. One possible scenario:
Sven shows and an interest in Marigold (who responds). Momo gets jealous and, when word gets to Marten, he seeks Dora's counsel. Dora's anxieties about relationships deepen (after all her brother's ease with the opposite sex is part of the reason she is so fearful about relationships) and that causes a rift between her and Tai. Tai holds Marten responsible for the direction of her relationship.
The above scenario is just one possible scenario. However, I do think that Sven is going to change direction romantically.
-
Sven has certainly been set up as being ready to change.
-
He's decided to become a priest.
-
> Angus and Faye breakup.
Those two ? Why ?!?
I've solved it!
The last couple strips have shown Faye getting excited about the prospect of motherhood. What if Angus doesn't want kids?
Dun dun dun.
-
He's decided to become a priest.
He's got a ready-to-go congregation of willing female followers...
-
Ooh, ohh predictions!
Marten - He will play his first gig and it will... not entirely suck! It will however give him much more confidence and a kick up the behind to make stuff happen, well at least a second booking. I'm purposely not predicting romance stuff even though I have a bajillion ideas.
Faye - She and Angus will keep going strong, maybe he'll meet Sam and they'll get on too. They'll do something committment-y, maybe meet Faye's sister or someone in Angus's family. I want to see her do more sculpting and maybe meet some new arty people.
Hanners - Drumming on stage! Overcoming freakouts... maybe after a few attempts and some sort of anti-sweat shield.
Marigold - Hello Dale :) Marigold ticks off a few more firsts after her space-makeouts! I'm very, very excited to see Marigold's first proper date! I imagine Hanners, Dora and Faye will be consulting (maybe Marten too)
Angus - Maybe we'll learn a bit more about his background as he gets closer to Faye.
Dora - Tai time but I reckon we might see her trying to boost business at CoD... maybe by showcasing some local up and coming artists...
Tai - Ooh, new tattoo!
Penelope and Wil - He proposes, she says no. Hmm, might be a little too melodramatic but think of the adjectives he'd use!
Sven - I miss Sven, I demand more Sven! I don't care how as long as he doesn't mess around with Faye and Angus.
Jim - I love Jim. I kinda wish he and Dora had better timing because I was feeling that more than Dora and Tai. I predict (hope) that we'll see more of Jim and his stubble. Oh and Sam, I love Sam and Faye, they are becoming my favourite pages.
I know I'm leaving Claire, Emily, Gaby, Raven and others out but predicting stuff is hungry work. Ah, I missed Steve and Cossette too. So hungry...
Damnit one more... Emily and Raven become BFFs.
-
Madam of honour?
Not "Mistress of Honor"? Too obvious?
How about a new character is added who has worse OCD than Hanners, who of course takes him or her under her figurative wing, compare notes on how to wash stuff, etc.
-
Jeph will introduce new characters.
-
Fayes Sister will become a regular character.
-
Ceramic lug wrenches will become popular.
-
I dunno, lug wrenches seem perfect for a small-scale Trazul test.
-
A cat GIF will be a candidate in the next US election. It will not finish last in the polls.
-
Didn't that already happen in the Republican primary last year?
-
Ceramic lug wrenches will become popular.
Production of Thermite will suddenly increase for no appreciable reason.
-
Marigold and Hanners will star in the next TV adaptation of the Sherlock Holmes franchise.
-
The series will be set in a possible future where humans have colonised mars; Holmes' and Watson's housekeeper will be a Station-class AI and the homoerotic subtext will be dialled up to eleven. Especially when they accidentally time travel to Victorian London and meet their counterparts, a lady's maid and her humanoid lizard Lady.
-
It will be assumed "Moriarty" is an older AI inhabiting an early 8600-model chassis. However, he will be seen taking orders from a shadowy figure with black-and-pink hair.
-
Reminds me that my parent's black lab was named Sherlock (he was a particularly clever fellow).
So when they adopted two identical mischievous kittens, they named them Morrie and Artie. They delighted in tormenting Sherlock...
-
I like the way your parents think.
-
It's a
blessing curse living.
-
Maybe Dale will make a move on Marigold and she'll be all like, "I've got a boyfriend (or at least made out with a boy) IN SPAAAACE."
-
It will be assumed "Moriarty" is an older AI inhabiting an early 8600-model chassis. However, he will be seen taking orders from a shadowy figure with black-and-pink hair.
M-31 since the cake mix incident.

M-31 since the cake mix incident.
Master of disguise, he is.
-
Not so much a prediction but a question:
Will Sven's intern still be around?
-
It will be assumed "Moriarty" is an older AI inhabiting an early 8600-model chassis. However, he will be seen taking orders from a shadowy figure with black-and-pink hair.
Ah, Jim!
-
...Jim?
I think he's talking about a certain Blodwyn The Chessmaster.
-
Not so much a prediction but a question:
Will Sven's intern still be around?
She seems to have vanished utterly but had some unused potential.
-
...Jim?
I think he's talking about a certain Blodwyn The Chessmaster.
I forgot there was a Jim in QC ( :-o). I meant Count James *noise* Moriarty from the Goon Show.
-
Some of us knew that, of course.
-
2013 Prediction?
Marten will question himself over something stupid in a way that just gets on everybody else's nerves.
2013 wishes are more varied. I'd take a Claire/Marten hookup, though. That'd be fun.
-
(moderator)
One of the least obvious but most important of the rules is the anti-shipping one.
(/moderator)
In any event, it would be unethical for Marten to do that.
-
Obviously. But most of my wishes have already been granted, I had to come up with SOMETHING. *shrug*
-
I predict we'll see more backstory for Claire.
-
Hmmm... I actually predict the opposite - I think we may see more forward-story for her. Perhaps navigating the beginning of a relationship, with all the usual angst mixed with the delicate dance of revelation... I think that's right up Jeph's alley - misunderstandings, long heartfelt talks, wacky hijinx...
-
As in, "Oh god, we've adopted another one"?
-
Scientific Wild-Ass Guesses (partially lifted from an earlier post)
- Marten will get more serious with Claire {less awkward if she's post-op rather than pre-op, "am I like my dad?"}. If she is pre-op, this may spur her to "go to Denmark".
- Sven, having been burned in his one attempt to be serious and monogamous, will revert to his previous self. And hate himself for it. He'll pine until someone else Faye-like comes along.
- In order to be with Hanners, Station will sell his stock to buy his own replacement for station ops, have himself downloaded into a humanform (male) AntroPC, and proceed to woo her.
- Faye and Angus get serious and get a new apartment together, allowing Claire] to move in with Marten (see above). A broken condom will result in Faye
getting pregnant having a brief scare.
- Dora and Tai will continue to smooch. A lot.
- Marigold will have a reunion with her Spathe Tholdier (who will bring her a case of Spathe Ham), but their date will be ruined due to Dale's meddling.
- The 3rd intern will disappear from the main storyline unless she is given a sufficiently strange quirk, to match Emily and Claire. Or unless she hooks up with Angus.
- The Skullmaster (Sam) will create hitherto unimaginable trouble, or at least trouble noone but Pintsize has managed before. Her dad will blame Faye.
- Pizza Girl will be revealed to be an emancipated AntroPC (she wears the costume to pass as human)
-
I predict Faye and Angus break up...his fault.
-
(moderator)The no-shipping rule is more important than you think(/moderator).
-
Oof....fair enough.
A further prediction:
MORE JIMBO. As in, a several-strip-length presence.
That is all.
-
How long has it been, anyway? He's overdue for an appearance. I wonder what genre he's working in now.
-
Didn't he pretty much cover them all with his last novella? Steampunk, aliens, furries, nobility, mystery and romance...
Did I miss anything?
-
Something kinky. In space...and/or the bottom of the sea.
Wait for it...
Space mermaids!!!
-
(moderator)The no-shipping rule is more important than you think(/moderator).
Is this being directed at me to any degree? I haven't spent a lot of time active in this forum; I apologize if I'm off the marked path, but I'll need something more than a vague ominous warning if I'm transgressing. EDIT: just read new public-warning policy. So that's all you can give? Counterproductive in some cases. If I have transgressed, I invite a mod to PM me. I gather that shipping got outrageous enough to become a real problem, but only through inference (and the existence of the rules about it).
I *was* trying to be very careful about it. I'm not saying, for example, that Station would *succeed* at wooing Hanners, only that he'd make the attempt, even at the staggering cost to himself. He's been cavalier about his not-inconsiderable wealth before.
Hmm. Maybe the bit about Claire was a bridge too far? Rethinking. She's interested in boys, but Marten isn't her "type", so that may not work after all. But Marten seemed a bit offput that he didn't qualify for consideration, that's why I'd thought maybe he's interested in her. And I do predict that Marten will get into a relationship, I was just trying to offer an alternative to the original poster whose format I swiped. Who received no such warning. The idea being, you know, make my post less plageristic? (I did leave one item unaltered...)
Everything else is an existing, canonical relationship (or non-relationship)
None of us are Jeph, anything we "predict" here is sheer speculation. And I thought that the speculations I've offered here were well within the bounds of what we'd seen, in canon. Am I wrong?
-
The public warning mechanism was enabled when the forum got extremely busy and somewhat heated for a while; it was used once, and hasn't been needed since.
Jeph's last known view on pregnancy is that he will not consider such an arc (think how people reacted to the miscarriage arc in C-A-D).
Shipping is a slippery slope; we prefer to prevent the loss of control that becomes inevitable after a while; this thread (http://forums.questionablecontent.net/index.php/topic,25614.0.html), though historical now, still contains the best account of why we feel this way.
-
Aha. I have read C-A-D, so I know of what you speak.
Part of what made the C-A-D situation so gratuitous was the fact that it was so out-of-line with the strip's usual tropes -- heretofore, man-child Ethan could do crazy-stupid things and not be maimed or killed (nor bankrupted by the medical bills). It's more of a pure gaming strip now than it was even then, but there was a sort of "Law & Order" filter; personal lives & issues never intruded on The Story, and now they had. There was a sense, an expectation, that things would -- should -- work out. Maybe many had hopes it would spur him to some personal growth, or just plain grow up. I'm sure there were feelings that the miscarriage was just a cheap "get out of jail free" card. Many artists besides Jeph consider it a lesson learned.
Faye's musings on the matter of having children (courtesy of Sam) does seem to invite speculation on this front. Unless her old problems flare back up, and I don't think they will. She appears to be most of the way to true stability., and in a relationship that seems pretty solid. IF it happened, I'm sure she and Angus would marry, the whole nine yards, and prepare themselves accordingly and responsibly. Either that, end it quickly, while its still little more than a mass of barely-differentiated cells. Either option of course is still controversial for widely different reasons. It's a hard decision that many have to make Real Life. As I'm writing this now, yeah, I can't imagine Jeph deliberately courting controversy when so much of it already finds him. As I wrote my original post, my thoughts were more along the lines of "These Things Happen, Sometimes"
On the one hand, I don't want to belabor the issue; on the other, the point has been broached. And if I'm reading the "conduct" thread right, explaining one's thought processes is safer than just leaving it hang out there.
Even "just" a false-positive scare would be IMO moderately tough for Faye to deal with, but she's the only one who even remotely could; I wouldn't wish it on any of the other female QC characters.
So, yeah, probably Not A Good Idea. At this point, I'm leaving it in my earlier post only to supply context for what followed.
-
I don't think there's anything wrong with speculating on whether Faye might accidentally get pregnant - as you say, it wouldn't necessarily have to lead to a pregnancy arc (she might be wrong about it, or less probably since it wolud be controversial she might decide not to carry on with the pregnancy) but I think it's unlikely. Your mention of Claire and Marten made me uncomfortable but that may be mostly due to the fact that you referred to Claire's genitalia. Aside from the fact that I don't think Jeph would ever allow that to be relevant in the comic because of the wrath it would incur however he dealt with the issue (he is fairly obviously trying to be very respectful in relation to Claire, and also it hasn't come up again since she first talked about it), it's just not speculation you'd have about any other character and it's kind of a crude thing to talk about.
Totally irrelevantly, I just looked out of the window and it's snowing AGAIN. My prediction is that the next time I read QC there will be more snow outside :(
-
Jeph's last known view on pregnancy is that he will not consider such an arc (think how people reacted to the miscarriage arc in C-A-D).
Wow...that takes me back. I thought I was the only one freaking out when that happened.
I predict that the singularity will hit. Because it keeps getting colder. Every day. And eventually it will be so cold that mass will not have energy, and thus will not have volume, and everything will become one. And my toes will still be freezing.
-
And eventually it will be so cold that mass will not have energy, and thus will not have volume, and everything will become one.
:psyduck:
-
Jeph did say once that none of the characters were remotely close to mature enough for a marriage, but that was quite a while back, I believe even before the Faye/Angus relationship.
Do problems like Faye's ever go away, or do they just become manageable background with occasional disabling flareups?
Maybe Hannelore could become a crazy aunt to Sam. She could add a lot to Sam's science classes.
(Oh, something I learned in the discussion right after Claire told Marten: pre-op vs. post-op is not a neutral question about life milestones, it's widely considered offensive).
-
Maybe Hannelore could become a crazy aunt to Sam. She could add a lot to Sam's science classes.
I'm now imagining Hanners in round, very dark quartz-glass glasses; maybe a leather glove on one hand...
Sam studies nuclear science,
She loves her classes.
She's got a crazy teacher,
Who wears dark glasses.
She doing all right,
Getting good grades.
Her future's so bright,
She's gotta wear shades!
-

"Mein fuhrer, I can walk" (http://www.filmforum.org/images/content/films/Dr_Strangelove_1964_12702.jpg)?
-
I suddenly have a short-term prediction: Dora's going to slip up on Tai.
-
Slip up? I don't follow. Like, fuck up the relationship?
-
Nono, he means have an unfortunate accident with some lube…
-
I'm now picturing them wearing ONE underpant together. (kinda like a siamese-twin bit, hope that's not offensive)
edit:
@Barmy below:
Will adjust my vocabulary accordingly. Won't edit it above, though. That would feel indecent. Oo
-
Generally "conjoined twin" is better than Siamese twin, I think.
When I was a kid we had some trousers in the dressing up box that were so big that my brother and I could stand in one leg each and walk around quite comfortably. I still would find that hilarious now (but I suspect we'd be a bit too big these days).
-
Yes, you are too big to do that now :-D. Not that you wouldn't be able find trousers big enough though. When I lived in the US I occasionally had to shop at "Big and Tall", and on some of the racks they had trousers that could house two copies of me. And I was already close to 200 lbs at that time. Walking while squeezed into one leg might have been a problem - they didn't let me try
-
I just gotta bad feeling about this - like SOMEone is going to slip up in their "I'm over him/her" current situation.
-
I just gotta bad feeling about this - like SOMEone is going to slip up in their "I'm over him/her" current situation.
Could you explain that? All I'm getting is:
Marten: "I'm over you, you're over me. Let's bang."
Dora: "Okay."
-
I don't see that happening. I could see it between Marten and someone else, but not Dora. As Faye might so eloquently put it, 'That ship has sunk to the bottom of a trench.'
-
Marten has talked about lingering feelings for pre-Dora girlfriends. If he tells Claire about lingering feelings for Dora, they're never going to get things explained to Claire.
-
Predictions:
Marten will date something
Marigold and Hanners will go somewhere
There will be some new female characters
Someone's parents will appear
Somehow everyone will become vampires
-

Reverse those and you may be getting it. (Remember we're dealing with Mr. Passive here...)

Hah, yes! If Marten ever says "Let's bang" to Dora, she'll be too shocked to answer!

Absolutely SHOCKED.

Because, hell, if he's got the balls to say that to her, he's probably waiting to do that too.
-
Hah, yes! If Marten ever says "Let's bang" to Dora, she'll be too shocked to answer!
Faye, on the other hand, had the answer (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=342) off pat.
-
Well, I for one would like for Miss "I am not going to accept millions of dollars as an apology from space station" to make a reappearance. She is one of my favourite characters.
Predictions: Faye learns something new about her dad
Dora finds that she does not enjoy Tai's quirkiness. Minor or major conflict ensues.
Secret Bakery Staff makes a reappearance.
Marten one day decides to go to sleep in his freezer. He wakes up in a barren postapocalyptic wasteland, realizing all his friends are gone, possibly dead. All except Winslow. With the thought "Oh, at least it's not Pintsize" Marten walks off into distance. They eventually arrive at the sea, where Marten meets Whalebot (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=2337). They are, of course, unaware of each other's connection in the alternative timeline, but mutual understanding quickly ensues. Whalebot turns out to know Space Station and communicates with him using his whale noises.
Space Station send down a shuttle with Hanners, who has also survived the apocalypse, the causes of which are still not disclosed. Hanners is of course distraught by the situation, but also happy to be reconnected with Winslow. Together they go and look for the others.
Long story short, it turns out that miraculously, every single one of them has survived. They return to the town. Dora and Faye find that the Staff of Secret Bakery, led by the fairy queen (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1844), have monopolized the food industry there. Dora and Faye now reopen CoD and aspire to overcome these difficulties, causing Jeph to create a spinoff comic called "Postapocalyptic Coffees".
Also, Marten finds his dream girl and they live happily ever after.
.... I really shouldn't write fanfics when I feel down.
-
That would actually be awesome.
-
...And then Marigold wakes up. God she has horrific dreams.
Because if Jeph actually did this, there would be rioting. o__o
-
Or it would be a Dave Willis guest strip. #### you Willis!
-
Marigold, Hannelore and Claire will start watching anime together.
Well, at least until Loki's apocalypse :psyduck: .
-
The art on Sweet Harriet's wall is a David Willis original.
-
Steve & Cossette decide to tie the knot. Cossette becomes pregnant. Steve is oddly relaxed and happy about this, showing signs of growing the fuck up.
This causes Marten and Faye to freak the hell out, though for different reasons. Marten freaks because he's not been with anyone since Padma and is basically existing in stasis; Faye because she could see herself taking that step with Angus and then daddy-issues ahoy.
-
Predictions: Faye learns something new about her dad
Gah, I hope not.
Marten one day decides to go to sleep in his freezer. He wakes up in a barren postapocalyptic wasteland, realizing all his friends are gone, possibly dead. All except Winslow.
... it has been a while since we saw Winslow, hasn't it? I had to read that twice to even remember who you had in mind; I first read this as Marten winding up with The Winslow (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Winslow) ...
The art on Sweet Harriet's wall is a David Willis original.
Yes please! 8-)
-
Steve & Cossette decide to tie the knot. Cossette gets the wrong idea and buys a fursuit. Steve is all 'what the hell' and tries it anyway. They both like it more than seems rational and become the first couple to fully upload into Second Life, where "mates rates" access to Pintsize's furry porn archive becomes their largest fiscal asset.
…I'm so sorry…
-
Trust me, so are the rest of us...
-
Marrying Steve and Cosette off would mean writing them out of the cast. I understand that's how they do it in Australian soap operas.

They don't appear often of late anyway. The event of them "getting on with life" would make a powerful catalyst, though.

Predictions:
Marten will date something
Marigold and Hanners will go somewhere
There will be some new female characters
Someone's parents will appear
Somehow everyone will become vampires
So... I realise no one will care but I just wanted to point out that I totally called today's comic.
I'm increasingly confident that all of my other predictions will come true. No exceptions.
-
I'm calling it now, Marten will start dating either Emily or Claire.
-
Y'know, 2013 predictions is a lot of predictions.
-
I'm calling it now, Marten will start dating either Emily or Claire.
I will bet my reputation* that neither of those things will ever come to pass.
*Ask your doctor about having my reputation. Side effects may include upset stomach, hives, dry mouth, internal hemorrhaging, inability to differentiate between seals and sea lions, dizziness, constipated diarrhea, lower resale value on your house, and hives again.
-
I will bet that too. I just can't see Marten starting to date any of the characters we have now - he's expressed no interest in any of them. If he dates again, it'll be someone new.
-
More to the point, he won't just jump on someone. He'll need to grow towards and into a relationship, as we saw with Padma, and we should expect to see that progression in the comic (probably slower than with Padma, because that was partly rebound) before anything substantive happens.
-

Actually, he's expressed interest in Raven (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=1361).
Of course, he's not her type (http://questionablecontent.net/view.php?comic=495), so I can't really see that either ...
More to the point, he won't just jump on someone.
... successfully.
(Is Potter already forgotten?)
-
That was rebounding from Padma.
Sort of a ricochet.
-
We have good evidence Marten is unlikely to do something casual, since he declined Sven's offer to introduce him to casual-sex types.
-
Yup, but I don't think the comic could go an entire year without some Marten-romance (Martmance?)
So... I reckon there'll be a new female character at some point to act as Marten's love interest.
-

That was right after he broke up with Dora, though, so he wasn't exactly in the mood at the time.
-
some Marten-romance (Martmance?)
Romanen. Or Mar (http://questionablecontent.net./view.php?comic=1282)mance.
-
The latter sounds more like it refers to Marigold to me, possibly because of the preexisting Mar-bear.
-
"Marmance" sounds more like something a Briton would spread on toast.
-
Both of those things are precisely what I thought of.
-
I predict (seriously this time) that someone will actually object at the wedding, or they will cause some sort of hubbub because Marten's dad is gay. I further predict that Marten will grow a pair, and use his fists for once to right wrongs and triumph over evil.
-

Or a pokémon.
Or a British spread made of pokémon... :psyduck:

Wasn't a souffle pan a cromulent way to commit violence?
-
I seem to remember him wielding a stop sign at one point, as well...
-
There was the implied threat of a broadsword as well.
-

<F>ight, <U>se item, or <R>un?
-
FUR.
Fight Using item, then Run.

<F>ight, <U>se item, or <R>un?
Switch Pokemon. A level 25 Marten is weak against a level 27 Vespavenger.
-
I'm now picturing them wearing ONE underpant together. (kinda like a siamese-twin bit, hope that's not offensive)
Do you think the QC universe has fundies (http://lh4.ggpht.com/-pADu9SKRsNI/TjvDJnpSA9I/AAAAAAAAQTs/pEpPMiU-oUk/fundies_thumb%25255B2%25255D.jpg?imgmax=800)?
-
Something good, that lasts, happens to Marty int he romantic word.
Ahhh, nope. Just kidding. We know that won't happen. Count on him screwing a romantic relationship up though!
Tai/Dora....do the deed. Break up by years end and Dora finally starts up for real with Jim, not having to worry about raising little babies.
Steve goes on another mission against his will and Cossette is his side-kick and femme fatale.
Pintsize nearly destroys something and gets a robo partner as creepy as he is.
Hanners makes more strides and becomes captain of a space ship.
-
Hanners makes more strides and becomes captain of a space ship.
Spaceship gets jealous of Hanners' new ride, and has to be talked down by Station. Who is secretly also Hannelore's robot XO.
-
Pintsize getting a robot partner makes sense now that Marten has more of a social life. Pintsize may be getting lonely.
-
Faye and Angus move in together. Possibly get their own place.
-
They's better keep it clean, or else it might start growing Fungus!
