I usually just play with my cats by tossing toys to/at them, and then grabbing them and tickling their tummies. And then they eat my hand. Or I move a hand or foot around under the blankets, and they chase.

One of my cats goes nuts over pencils, of all things. Sticks, pens, rulers, whatever have no effect, but a pencil (has to be yellow and black striped) sends them wild.

The other one just lies on the back of the sofa and headbutts people.

Cat game my friend proposed: Build an arena (cat scale) with obstacles and paths suitable for cats and mice. There's a mouse scale exit somewhere in the arena with some cheese. Mice that make the exit shall be well fed for the rest of their tiny little lives. The cats will be entertained either way.

That said I know it's better for some predatory animals to have live prey, for the mental state and what have you. I wonder if any one's studied the benefits of a live diet on house cats?

Thanks for the suggestions, people.

I could never feed them live things. Once upon a time I will move into a house and then they can deal with that stuff outside. I bring spiders and bugs outside instead of killing them. Though the idea is pretty amazing and would without doubt be good for them, let alone for keeping them entertained. I worry that they just sleep and sleep and sleep. One of the cats is very tall and built and I worry that she will get stiff. She already has trouble jumping onto things a cat her age should have no problem with.

I made a ball out of tin foil that they're chasing around right now. It's fun and they also run into each other for extra hilarity.

So we stopped by a pet store today to get something for the kitty and the store was having a guinea pig sale. There were guinea pigs everywhere. One of them had a BABY. OH MY GLOB BABY GUINEA PIGS ARE SO CUUUUUUUUUTE! It had to have been only about 3-4 inches long and it's head was about as big as its body and it was so tiny and cuuuuute. I wish I'd gotten a picture, but I'd left my phone at home.

Also we played with a husky puppy because puppies.

Ohhh, I love guinea pigs! And Eddie looks so much like my last guinea pig, Black Beauty (who was a girl). Same shape of the head and body and same colour.

I let my cat go on our apartment baclony. there is nothing to do out there, he could fall off at any second, and the birds perch just out of reach and harass him.

Grilling with gas is just wrong. Use wood or charcoal, it will taste so much better.
Although I have to admit, using gas is still better than an electric grill.

Maisy likes to popcorn while she's under her house. Now, I think it's funny and the kids think it's funny, but Friday she was doing it during nap time. And she was getting very loud because the house was bumping against the cage and she was squeaking up a storm and obviously having a very good time. But I had 9 sleeping toddlers. So I had to take her house out of her cage so I didn't feel the wrath of crying, half asleep children. I felt bad.

Until she started running around in circles and squeaking up a storm and obviously still having a very good time. Silly guinea pig.
