Zippyshare does share the qualities that we used MF for - multiple simultaneous downloads, no wait time, maximum efficiency. Maybe a captchca once in a while, whatever. It is the new boogaloo.

That Young Fathers album is really flipping good, reminds me of early TV On The Radio.

The Tuvans have been on the world music stage for better than 20 years now, with the most well known ensemble being Huun-Huur-Tu.  This is the second, and easily best, studio recording by a younger group called Alash.    Their discs are available at a good rate direct from the band if you like it (otherwise the imports are pricey)  Check out the youtube video below for an idea of what music from Tuva sounds like.

Files are lossless ALAC- easily transcoded iPod ready.

Here's the new F.Lips record- a abstract downer of a thing that I'm really enjoying after a couple of difficult first listens.   it's got the itunes bonus remix (at 256kbps) and two other bonus tracks (all Lossless ALAC).

Swing Shine mix Shanghai Mandopop and French pop, both circa 1940, and blend them.  The music is largely European style guitar jazz, but the lyrics are all in Mandarin.  mp3 files at 256VBR (no commercially available lossless or CD version exists as of yet).

Tomahawk's first album in 6 years, and their first of their own songs in 10-  and lo and behold, it's turns out to be their best.  This particular Patton project has never been my favorite-  but after this record, they're due for a re-evaluation. Judge for yourself.

I remebered Adam Ant as the swishy Brit who sang "Strip" on the MTV when I was 7 years old or so, and had him stashed away in the dark corner of my brain where I keep all of the other embarrassingly bad music i heard when I was a child.  So imagine my surprise when I found out that at least for a few years, he was halfway decent new wave punk rocker.  And a bit of a weird one at that: Kings of the Wild Frontier is a mix of surf guitar, Native American war whoops, piratical shanties, and Burundi beat drumming.  And at least for just this one album it mostly works.

Lossless ALAC.  includes all tracks from UK and US releases and recent reissue bonuses (demos mostly-  if you don't want them, just download the first two parts ands skip the third)

This disc of Zorn's, from 2011, is the beginning of his series of "Mystical" works.  These tend to be jazz influenced and very accessible, as opposed to the more abstract amorphous stuff in his more formal compositions.  Anyway- if you've heard some weird noise from Zorn in the past that put you off, give this a chance.  And if you've heard some weird noise from Zorn in the past that turned you on, you might like this anyway. The video above should give you a good idea.

Here, losseless like, are 8 tracks that make up the 7" singles between the Japandroids' first and second albums.  Not vinyl rips.  Not as good as the 2nd disc proper- but there's some worthwhile stuff here.

So, there's this anime-influenced SRPG game on the 3DS called Fire Emblem: Awakening, and I've been playing an entirely unhealthy amount of it.  It's like digital crack to me-- don't know if that means I aver others play it or not...  But anyway, one point of nigh universal praise for the game was for it's soundtrack, a hint of which you get in the video above.

I done went and bought the complete soundtrack release, which weighs in at 4 discs of swelling orchestral war music.  It's probably more enjoyable if you've played the game, but I don't think that's a prerequisite.  I know this isn't the kind of music what usually get's posted in this thread, but since lately the music posted in this thread is nothing- I hope you won't mind.  I promise the next post will be more conventional.

so, here it is- lossless ALAC.  + an HD copy of the above intro video from a CD included with the soundtrack

Eat Up The Sun by Vodun
Here's something completely fresh! Big heavy riffs with voodoo gospel vocals. Insanely catchy stuff.

Another mates band, they've just recorded their first album and should be huge any time now. But their Ep is awesome. UK Hardcore.

Also, download the EP I sang on! (Currently in the process of re-learning our songs to play some shows) Post-hardcore with some poppy hooks.

Will Oldham in his Bonnie "Prince" Billy guise worked a bit with Mick Turner and Jim White of Dirty Three back around the late nineties and early 2000s.  With Mick adopting the nome de plume "The Marquis de Tren" they produced an EP in 2000 called "Get On Jolly"  using as lyrics the devotional poetry of Bengali polymath Rabindranath Tagore.  Their respective fans rather liked it, but there was no followup until this week.  It comes in the form of a rather short EP called "SOLEMNS", and despite the name it's quite a bit livelier than it's predecessor.

So here're both EPs-  see what you think.

Posted this in the Yr Music thread, but figured I'd put it up here, too:

Free download from http://atlasatlast.bandcamp.com

This is my band, we play aggressive melodic punk/post-hardcore, influences like ATDI, The Blood Brothers, etc. Six songs written over the last few years. Full of: shouting, bass fuzz, ridiculous drum fills, and strong lyrical content. Share & Enjoy!

Tim Vantol - If We Go Down We Will Go Together  (2013)

Code: [Select]
http://www49.zippyshare.com/v/26332801/file.html

"Playing in various punkrock and hardcore bands Tim toughened up a bit, but during soundchecks you could often catch him singing them sing along accoustic songs. How deep those songs went became obvious when he started to write his own accoustic music.
They seem to be drenched in the familiar smell of morning breath still dieing from last night's whiskey and really, it never smelled this good.
Showing off his urge to be living life just a little bit more than we have been doing lately and a restlessness that makes today's youth look like a bunch of old men playing dominoes in the park, here's a guy who'll put it in the face of anyone willing to listen."

Dmitri Shostakovich - 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op 87 (Tatiana Nikolayeva, 1962)

Code: [Select]
http://symphonyshare.sorokine.fr/Donald%20Clarke%20/ShostOp87Nikolaeva1962%3A1.rar
http://symphonyshare.sorokine.fr/Donald%20Clarke%20/ShostOp87Nikolaeva1962%3A2.rar
http://symphonyshare.sorokine.fr/Donald%20Clarke%20/ShostOp87Nikolaeva1962%3A3.rar

Shostakovich was so impressed with Tatiana Nikolayeva's playing at a Bach festival in Leipzig in 1950 that he started writing preludes and fugues for her, and although he hadn't necessarily intended to compose a full set, his 24 Preludes and Fugues Opus 87 was complete within a year. She was the first to play the complete set in public, in 1952, and the first to record them, in 1962. She recorded the set twice more, in Russia in 1987 and in London in 1990, but the first set was always rumoured to be the best, and it has never been available in the west in any format.   So, a real rarity for your delectation.

Well... Hello, thread. What happened, here? Have some music, maybe that'll get your blood pumping again.

I'm in a band, and we figure people might like our stuff. It's hopelessly labeled as Alt Rock, in a vein that shows we're inspired by bands like Smashing Pumpkins, Pedro the Lion, Brand New, and Foo Fighters, with a hint of "That Thing You Do" in one song. I hate drawing comparisons, so I'll cut the formalities.

Here. We recorded and produced it ourselves, and it's free. Try it on for size.

Even though many of the fine folks who have given me their music through this forum have likely moved on, I would like to give back to the community in some way. Maybe if I'm lucky I'll be able to share something that someone doesn't already have, maybe even something they like, or maybe not. Either way, let's give it a shot!

Edit: It's "Morning" not "Mourning" - I get it. Doh.

These guys played at a friend's house as a favor - they were super friendly!

"The band has an infectious, charming and uber melodic indie-pop sound with jangly guitars and a driving rhythm section reminiscent of The Cranberries." - Bruce Warren, Exec Producer of World Cafe of NPR

I guess I just trusted Bruce Warren over here to describe it better than I would. I know that I find them really catchy and melodic as well, and for some reason it's enough to put me in a good mood pretty much regardless of what else is going on - whether that good mood is superficial or not, who cares?

Tycho - Past is Prologue

Whoever posted his 2011 record Dive a while ago really did me a solid. I ended up buying (gasp!) this record from 2006 which is, for lack of a better word, beautiful. I even took the effort to upload the cover art because it's pretty beautiful too. Take a bath!

Bonus: I didn't know that "past is prologue" came from Shakespeare until today, I guess I have some reading to do...

I really dig this guy's voice. My friend showed me this video a year ago and while I loved it, I forgot all about Woodkid until I saw he was headlining a festival this summer in Barcelona which I plan to attend.
Anyway, I think it's a fun album and I'm looking forward to seeing him live - his short wikipedia page makes him sound pretty interesting. Best stage performer at 'Les Victoires de la Musique' , worked with Pharrell Williams and Kanye, etc.

I wish I could say the same. I only discovered it after the glory days, just as posts were starting to taper off. I'm just grateful for the multitude of paths that were laid out for me that I never would have trodden otherwise. It's been really formative for this confused young explorer.
