So I figured I'd start a thread. What videogame would make a great TV show?

I agree with Chris in the video, but other than the 2 discussed, I would like to see an Assassin's creed series a la Game of Thrones.

I think Okami would be a great little show in the vein of Avatar and the likes. Viewtiful Joe would also count but that was a cartoon show for a while.

The World Ends With You is the one I'd most like to see as either a TV show or an anime. The concept of The Reaper's Game and the mythos for the afterlife and frequencies that were presented intrigue and give too much universe for a single game to truly explore. A TV Show would have a much better time with it all.

Likewise Phoenix Wright would make an amazing Law And Order style "crime of the week" show with a little comedic and fantastic flair to spice things up.

As much as I love DAO, right now, with Game of Thrones, all we'd hear would be people bitching about how similar the two are (which, in all fairness, Dragon Age does owe a lot to George R. R. Martin). Maybe in a few years, but not before.

Personally, I think a mini series based on Deus Ex: Human Revolution might be good, if done right.

Actually, thinking about it... 'To The Moon'. I could seriously see some fantastic potential in a series based on the concept of the company in the game. It also has some decent things to build off of from 'Dollhouse', 'Total Recall' and 'Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind'.

Honestly, I would like to see a series based on Resident Evil, but done like the CG films Degeneration and Damnation. You make that a TV series, and do it right - by which I mean stay with the original storyline, and not something Paul WS Anderson dreamed up for his wife to star in - and I will watch the ever-loving shit out of that.

Seriously - I will be on the edge of my couch every week to watch the new episode, and no I would not be disappointed that I already know what's going to happen because I played the games (this was one of the arguments for the movies diverting from what was originally considered canon).

basically you could win a match by one of two ways:

1) Score the most points

2)kill the entire opposing team.

you could unlock players for your team and every time you beat a team in story mode you could unlock that team for story and multiplayer. There was even a ninja team. They seriously need to revamp this game. A nice gem from the old xbox and extremely underrated.

would love to see this become an actual sport. Its like full contact ultimate frisbee!

"Indiana Jones And The Emperor's Tomb" would arguably have made a better IJ movie than Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The plot is episodic, so a TV serial would not be impossible.

Skies of Arcadia Legends could make for an awesome ensemble cast TV show.

I also thought the Resistance games would be better to watch then play.

I'd chime in for Final Fantasy but I really do think of them as movies at this point

i've been playing Sniper Elite: Berlin 1945, and it has some very interesting storytelling potential in the premise. you play as an american OSS agent in berlin at the end of the war, but rather than fighting the nazis you're an infiltrator into the german army. you actually spend most of your time fighting the soviets, trying to prevent them from getting their acquiring german atomic research.

i think it could be quite interesting to do something exploring the german side of the war, and the infiltrator angle seems like a good way to do that without the problematic aspect of having nazis as the main characters.

This isn't quite the question, but I know that a lot of wrestling fans including myself wish that some of the storylines that take place in the WWE computer games would happen in real life - like when Wade Barrett, Sheamus, William Regal and Drew McIntyre forming a stable called the United Kingdom. That's just badass.

That would get some younger guys way too over and is much too good of an idea for WWE creative to think of it. Speaking of... who was that Welsh guy who looked a bit like a more compact sized Batista? I'm sure he could find a place on such a team.

On topic, (and I apologize if anyone has beaten me to this idea) I think Minecraft would make an excellent TV series on the level and of a similar vein as Walking Dead. We start out with a guy named Steve who finds himself in the wilderness and has to build a shelter before night comes and the zombies, skeletons, man-eating spiders, and creepers come out. We could follow his exploits all season as he has close encounters with various hostile mobs and finds building materials, possibly meeting other "players" or villagers. Eventually, like around season 2-3 (once he had like a proper and safe house/castle) he would make his way into the Nether and then around season 5 he would enter the End to slay the Enderdragon.

You're thinking of Mason Ryan, who is still employed by WWE but Christ alone knows where he is.

The less said about Benoit the better, but Jericho, Christian, Test, Lance Storm and William Regal formed a stabled called the UnAmericans. Also both WCW and TNA independelty had stables called Team Canada, both of which were pretty awesome.

That's the guy. I believe Jericho tweeted about Ryan after his debut, calling him "Batistwo". Speaking of Jericho, I don't know he was technically ever part of the UnAmericans. According to his book, he was crucial to their formation, but then was drafted to the other show. I think there were plans for him to be a part of it, but he did assist them from time to time.

Jericho was pretty good friends with everyone involved. He was just in the midst of a notable de-push/burial at the hands of triple H at the time (ymmv).
