Weirdest experiences of 2012: A retrospective
« on: 20 Dec 2012, 17:34 »

So, looking back over the year, what would you say are the strangest moments you had?

I might think of some more, but for me I think the end of May, when my name change finally was legal was pretty far up there.

Though last month, singing an impromptu duet of this song while a naked gay man lovingly flogged a female friend of ours *might* have taken the crown. Maybe.

this has been the weirdest year of my life to date and I cannot isolate any part of it

though any event from the genderqueer anarchist commune I lived in (12 people in a 3 bedroom dorm apartment) will probably take number one

My life has only really ever flirted with normality. However the weirdest part of my year is the number of times I've had to say "... and when I say my girlfriend, I actually mean wife".

Monday I was walking down a country road in the rain and didn't rally expect to meet anyone else on foot as it was already dark. After a while I noticed a light bobbing in the distance. Turned out a fat lady wearing a headlight was walking on the other side of the road in the same direction. She was kinda slow so I eventually closed the distance. As I passed her she stopped to rest at a beam-barrier in a curve, bent over and gloriously puked on the side of the road in the light of her lamp.
I was like "whoa, everything allright there?" and said "yeah, yeah, fine" and seemed quite composed. Not wishing to intrude I hurried on. Just as I took literally the next step I noticed another big puddle of puke on my side of the road. I wonder what the hell was going on there that night.

Oh, that'll be those Hukers, a rather titilating (yet at points, melodramatic) group who combine their love of hiking with their ability to puke whenver they like. Sometimes its to mark territory, sometimes it leaves a trail for other hukers to follow. They're a nice clan but have not yet been able to thoroughly integrate themselves into society, hence their need to walk in the dark when very few people observe their inevitable chunder.

My obvious answer hijacks every fucking thread and I don't want to be that guy.

So I'll say that one of the weirder ones of 2012 was watching two gorgeous naked girls snorting cocaine off each other's private parts.

Oh, Seattle was weird, now that I'm thinking in that sort of light. Tying someone up to the counter and being the photographer to a caning, whipping, electric paddling, and then fucking was pretty fucking weird in hindsight. It seemed pretty natural at the time...

This actually describes the last few months of my life rather well

Given the events of our life that led up to that moment, it was inevitable, but still strange to consider nonetheless...

Either wielding a cricket bat in bed, or getting hilariously drunk and high on the ride to a baseball game, drinking more during the game, and then going out when we got home.

It made this happen.

There have been a few incidents with mushrooms and molly that I could bring up, and the countless booze or weed ones I've long-since forgotten about.

Frankly the weirdest part of 2012 was the day my nostril got licked by some drunk slut in a bar at my friend's band's show.

None of the posts so far (mine included) have even remotely begun to match my daily life in Albania, just sayin

Eeehhhh...getting a job? That's a thoroughly boring weirdness.

Being fired by a guy who's been a good friend for over 15 years.

Upon reflection, I think the weirdest thing that happened last year comes to a 2-way tie.

1. After leaving a Three concert, my friends and I saw some homeless lady peeing on the sidewalk while standing up, and when she saw us staring she shouted "AIN'T YOU NEVA SEEN A PUSSY BEFO'?! WASH YO MOUF, GIMME YO MONEY"

2. That one chick at the bar who licked my nostril in November or whatever

Patrick if the next Troubador record isn't called 'Wash Your Mouf, Gimme Your Money' then I will slap you

I finally went ahead and crossed the line to taking advantage of our open marriage.  I went on dates with people I met on dating sites, and in bars and at school.  I got a boyfriend, and then another boyfriend.  I had sex with a girl then had to break things off and awkwardly see her regularly afterwards. I had sex with a friend, then with another friend and dealt with the inevitable changes that makes to a friendship.  I got a girlfriend maybe (I don't want to label that shit yet) and all of this was supremely weird.
I didn't really date before I met Stephen which meant that even though I am 29, I felt teenage awkward in every new situation.  Adding to that weirdness is the fact that I am happily married, and I have no cultural context to place this experience in: Happily married but seeing other people. I also couldn't talk about my issues too publicly.  My parents and even my best friend don't know that my marriage is open.

Here's to another year of disregarding societies rules and having fun with a variety of people.  Here's to having a better idea what I want this year and having less awkward conversations.  Here's to getting the balls to confess it all to my best friend, who I think will be quite judgmental about it all.
