I can't do dropped waist. The only fitted waist I look any good in is empire. But I'm okay with that!

I'm commissioning a Princess Daisy dress in a more real world style. For sexy times, admittedly, but I want to be able to wear it as a fancy Halloween costume, too. This is the seller I'm currently talking to about it: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PixiePocket

SO MANY gorgeous dresses. I almost wish I needed a wedding dress, now.

I kinda want a set of these for me, I'd go for the full brasso polish though. Credit to CSM for dinging the link.

Bought mah first skirt. :)

Warning: Loud scraping from turning laptop with built-in mic. But hey, spinny-skirt!

(click to show/hide)

Sure beats wasting money on family-suggested formal dude-pants for grandma's funeral that I wouldn't want to wear to it and wouldn't wear afterwards. Whatever, just gonna go in jeans. It's not supposed to be colourless anyway.

That is a very pretty, albeit slightly blurry, skirt! And you should wear whatever you wish to your grandma's funeral. When my godmother died I wore a bright red shirt to her memorial service because she requested that people didn't wear black, but most people had worn black and I was too embarassed to take my coat off. Now I wish I had done so, because wearing colour to a celebration of someone's life just makes sense.

Valdis I didn't realise that was your FIRST skirt, I'm really sorry I didn't make a bigger deal out of it.

Because I have thought of you as a woman for as long as I've known you, I've just blithely assumed you had shitloads of skirts.

It sure is pretty, yeah. :-D

And thanks~

you should wear whatever you wish to your grandma's funeral.

Easier said than done, I'm afraid. Also don't want to make myself a centre of attention or whatever by going all femme. I mean, already gonna be deadnamed in text next to my brother on the bouquet from us, so bleh.

Now I wish I had done so, because wearing colour to a celebration of someone's life just makes sense.

Probably gonna end up wearing a pink formal shirt (closest I have to red, which was her favourite colour), yeah. But with jeans.

Valdis I didn't realise that was your FIRST skirt, I'm really sorry I didn't make a bigger deal out of it.

Heh. That's alright, Gareth. No worries.

I've just blithely assumed you had shitloads of skirts.

:-) Nah. Too poor for lots of clothes in general, but ones in earlier pictures have been borrowed. This one is the first Karin-owned.

I mentioned a dark-purple hoodie on facebook the other day, so I felt like taking a whole bunch of pictures in full regalia this morning. :-D

Only like 27kb a piece so just gonna throw 'em all up instead of selecting a couple.

Now if only it'd get reasonably warm outside..

Very nice! We went to a wedding this weekend, and when Robert looked up how to tie a tie, he found some site where the directions were "start out like a bow tie, then finish like a regular tie" and there was much bellowing before he moved on to the next result.

I got these pants and I adore them, but I have no idea what color top to wear with them. A light purple one seems like far too much purple.

No such thing as too much purple.

I think I'd just wear them with a solid white/grey/black top but almost everything I own is solid grey or black. Not a fan of most patterns on me so can't give much advice.

I looked in my closet (work clothing) for a solid gray top today and uh... I only own one, and it's dirty. And I only own two black tops. This is insanity. I'm not used to having... colors in my wardrobe.

I'm really intrigued by this wedding dress. Though I think I'd have a plain sash instead of the bow and I have my heart set on an ankle length dress. So pretty though! I've had it in my bookmarks as a reference since Neko posted the store because I definitely want black lace/detailing on my wedding dress. Thinking of having a whole black and white theme but that's only if we chicken out of having a RASSLIN' themed wedding. Srsly.

The person does custom orders, so I could probably ask them to make a version of the dress, and if I could see them in person I think I'd go but scared of ordering a dress online, especially when we haven't even booked a place. :psyduck:

If you can't actually meet up with them in person: try on things that are similar in shape, get your measurements done by a professional and be VERY sure of their return policy.  :-P

Waiting on this dress to arrive so I can wear it to a wedding next weekend. Honestly have no idea what to wear it with, though. I'm hoping to find either some tan or aqua sandals/wedges to wear with it, but...should I wear it with a thin belt? Skip the belt and do a big necklace? What do you guys think?

Skip the belt, it would look off with the print, big sparkly necklace? Yes.

In personal fashion news tonight's project is sewing patches on my hoodie

It depends on how the waist sits on you, it looks like it might be the sort of fabric that can look kind of stretched/slouchy on? If so, wear a thin, black belt with it to make it look really sleek. Just a really thin, almost invisible belt though, if you have it.

And yes, it would look great with a big necklace. If you're doing aqua sandals go for gold, if you're doing tan, something colourful.

I think you could definitely do both the belt and the necklace :-) I'd wear a skinny belt a little on the higher side, at your natural waist. Maybe a chunky beaded necklace?

Welp, I ended up with light gold shoes. Couldn't find any aqua ones (saaaaad, it's my favorite color) and the tan ones I liked were not as comfortable as the gold. So! Whenever this dress arrives, tomorrow or Wednesday, I'm gonna go find a big chunky necklace, a clutch to match (or in gold), and a cute hair clip if I can find one and call it a day.

I own basically no jewelry, so I'm all about having an excuse to go get some.
