I've never worn red on purpose. But he does like red, so maybe I should.

Personally I wear a lot of blue because my husband's favorite color is blue and I happen to really like blue as well. I think purple would be awesome for you as well as red.

I am in a wedding in 3 weeks and I haven't gotten the dress to be dark enough yet, or found shoes I like.

The bride picked a color for the bridesmaids from David's bridal, but said we could get our dresses wherever.  The largest size at David's was going to be an inch too small in the bust and all their dresses are expensive and polyester, so I decided to get a white dress I loved and dye it the color.  Two of the bridesmaids are getting their dress from davids, so the color will be exact, and the third got her's elsewhere, so I don't know how exact the color is.  I have dyed the dress 3 times, and it's just not dark enough yet.  Has anyone here dyed clothing? I could use some advice. I am buying more dye and the "dye fixative" which I haven't been using, and hoping that will do the trick. It was almost the right shade, but when I dyed it again today with the same ratio of dye it came out a bit too red and not much darker :/

Before this dye:

After this dye:

Also, shoes, I need silver shoes which are not a million dollars, which don't have a high heel and which will look nice for an outdoor summer wedding.  Right now I have these:

I don't love them though.  Where do you guys shoe shop? I've looked at DWS, Famous Footware, Amazon, Zappos and Modcloth. :/

Is there somewhere you could go for advice about the dyeing? Like a dressmakers or something?

What about Payless for shoes? I usually do Ebay.

Me and my MoH had shoes from zappos, the other bridesmaids got theirs at Payless. As for dying, I'd mix the people you had with a navy blue? But I'd look up a reputable source first.

I usually have the best luck with shoes at DSW and 6pm.com. Amazon can be worth it if you know what you're looking for and punch in the style number. I think I found my wedding shoes by doing a Google search, actually. If you type in the style and color you want, you can click on one of the images and there is an option to click "visually similar items". I find that really helpful when I'm looking for shoes :-)

I did a quick search for "womens low heel silver sandal" and got a bunch of cute ones here. You should be able to click any of them and it'll take you to visually similar items as well. A word of warning- it can suck you in.

(edited to add- the Anne Klein ones in the top row? WANT.)

I don't know why ebay hadn't occurred to me, I am looking there now.  Those Ann Klein ones aren't bad, but I can't find them in my size.  I think one of the problems I am having is I just don't like silver shoes; they either look really cheap, or they cost more than I want to spend, and I can't imagine myself wearing any of them again. But I guess I just need to get over that.  I will wear the dress again, which is better than most bridesmaids get.

What do you think about these? They're a mite bit pricey but the style is so cute that you might actually decide to wear them after the wedding, despite them being silver!

I liked those, but the bride has announced that the flip flops are fine, so I am sticking with them.

Heres how the dress turned out, in need of a de-wrinkling obvs...

with the swatch for comparison:

It is still redder than I would like, but there's nothing to be done about it at this point.  I think it will be close enough.

It looks close enough to me! The same fabric looks different against different skin tones anyway, so there shouldn't be a problem. I'm glad she oked the flip flops, they look good - I like the shine. :)

Shiny and non-shiny fabrics will look differently anyways, even if dyed with the same color. I think it looks great!

Cute! And great work on the dye job! I dive headfirst into any DIY stuff but I'm still a bit afraid to tackle fabric dye. (Which is odd....because I have no qualms about hair dye!)

I was so sad about my favourite pair of jeans being more groin-holes than cloth and also about not having good shorts to get me through this abominable summer that is surely the work of the Dark One :x so I took a pair of scissors to the jeans, cut the legs short, trimmed the frayed edges of the holes, patched them from the inside with the bits I'd cut off and then hemmed the legs. Presto, perfect jean shorts :)

JORTS!

I want to get my sewing machine back from my ex and fix some pants and two cardigans. And then I want to sew myself something. I haven't decided what, yet. But maybe a tank top or a small purse. I wish I was thinner for many reasons, but one of the bigger ones is that it would mean making clothing for myself would be easier.

So I have a clothing problem. Most of my work pants look awful on me. And I hate them. And they don't fit well. I have one pair that fits great and looks great, and they're even still made. But I can't really afford to buy more clothing. But I want to feel good. So I don't know what to do. Maybe sell my old pants so I can buy new ones? But I don't know anyone my size. WHINE.

Try to sell them on ebay. My mom had good luck selling some of my old clothes on there. Even the ones that I thought no one would wear/buy.

There's also online consignment- you might not make as much on each piece, but you can likely get rid of a higher volume at once. I recently started looking at thredup.com- might be worth a shot?

Yay! Yeah I really like it, and although it would be the most expensive dress I've ever bought it seems like most wedding dresses for some reason easily gain another 0 behind the figure. I just really like the simplicity of it, and I'm not worried about buying it online since it's wide everywhere besides the waist, which is elastic.

I love these.  I have several pairs in blue.  They lots of pockets, are water resistant, are too short to get tangled in my chain (bought a bike earlier this year) and they look good to.  They ork well on and off the bike.  They're a little thin for early morning rides or heavy rain but that's why I've got these.

Thanks! And that's so funny, every time I hear about wedding dress searching it seems like it's supposed to be this huge, never ending task where you won't be able to rest until you find THE ONE dress, probably after trying on lots and lots of other dresses first. I found this one pretty quickly, and kept looking for a bit (my mom doesn't think I should stop looking yet) and like... 95% of wedding dresses are massively over priced, hideous or both. If I'd only gone to specialty wedding dress shops that would have probably been the case for 100%, thank goodness for Etsy.

Wearing a pretty nightgown with pretty matching undies cause I need to feel pretty right now. Everything is covered but I'd say NSFW cause it can be awkward looking at pics of girls in nightgowns when you're at work
