I'm not sure I can put into words how much I loathe the overwhelming majority of ska.

so, your position is basically that

My favourite cover album is Luther Wright and the Wrong's track by track re-imagining of Pink Floyd's The Wall as a country bluegrass album, Rebuild the Wall.  This album made me laugh so much.

I absolutely adore most of Camille O'Sullivan's covers.

Worth mentioning are her covers of Tom Waits' "Misery Is The River of the World" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rMXlu_0nUEA
and

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' "The Ship Song" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdLrwH2Ib68

I've also got a soft spot for Lydia Lunch and Rowland S Howard's cover of Some Velvet Morning. Pretty much listened to it a month straight back when I was 18. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBdK7PZSCxw

Mind is blank, can't think of any of my faves apart from this cover of "Don't Think Twice It's Alright":

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgE9tGAdwRQ

Gonna say my favorite for that tune is the Mike Ness cut from Cheatin at Solitaire.

Céline Dion does a cover of "Feliz Navidad" that I think is funny as everloving shitcake since she's a French-Canadian singing a song half in Spanish.

Back in the 80s, the musical scene of Spain just blew up. Mostly because no more dictatorship yaaay.

It spawned a number of different scenes, and these dudes (Siniestro Total) personified the movement in Galicia. One of the hardest rock bands in Spain.

And in this particular song, they cover "Sweet Home Alabama". Obviously, their "sweet home" is Galicia, so technically their version is called "Miña Terra Galega".

*edit* I can't find, like, ANY reference to that band's existence outside of that particular performance.

Try googling "Whippersnappers Melbourne band" and you'll get some hits, including this. They weren't exactly big-time; I think their appearance on The Money Or The Gun was the zenith of an arc spent mostly playing local pubs and clubs in Melbourne. It was all rather before my time as a consumer of Australian music and media (I was still living in China), so I don't know.

And yeah, the video is pretty rubbish, isn't it? I wonder if one of the girls turned somebody down...

Just discovered the "Indie Covers" playlist on Spotify. I don't like when Spotify uses super-generic words like 'indie' to describe playlist they themselves create, but some of them are pretty good. Currently listening to this one.

Found on Spotify, better than the Bon Iver original (much better - there's such a disconnect between the lyrics and the music for me) AND the Birdy cover IMO.

Works surprisingly well, even over the original's instrumentals.
