Pintsize probably feels no pain, and is not afraid of physical damage. Due to bad behavior, he has been hurled across the room on several occasions, and suffered other damage as well. Still, he thinks it is worth it. Is it because he knows Marten will get him fixed again? Otherwise, it seems stupid for an intelligent being to cause damage to oneself, unless he is suicidal.

As down as Marten is at the moment, Pintsize's reaction was pretty darn funny. I've often wanted to do something similar (usually under similar circumstances (for a guy who actually doesn't have a girlfriend, I seem to be the "go-to guy" for relationship advice in parts of my social circle)), but currently my limbs are not detachable.

Not so much a point, but when Pintsize (finally) helpfully fulfilled in one of his roles as a companion AI, it backfired on him since Marten is still in a down mood.

For once, I agree completely with Pintsize's response. 

Cuddly sympathy just... wouldn't be Pintsize, would it?
It might shock Marten out of wallowing in his own regrets, to remember that others have feelings too.
Once he's restored Pintsize's head, he needs to apologise and graciously accept that Pintsizse's advice was indeed good as far as it went, and if the outcome wasn't perfect that was for reasons neither of them could apparently have predicted.
