On comic... well, Faye has matured a lot in her time. But that said, she probably would not be happy with anything changing the status quo ("This is why I don't like change. It changes things."). Given she will be about 3 hours drive (thanks, Google Maps!) from her friends and her comfort zone, I don't think she will handle this that well.

Not only that, a three hour drive without a car.  She probably can't afford a car and train schedules don't allow flexibility or spontaneity.

There's a bigger problem here: he's kind of kept this a secret or would have had she not found the audition flyer.  And then he didn't talk about it much beyond that discussion 200 strips ago.  200 strips could equal a long time in real life.  If he gets the gig and just ups and heads to NYC you get the idea that he never really thought the thing with Faye was a long term deal.

Either that or he says "I see a future with you, come to NYC with me" and that would change things completely.  And if that happened, well, QC would be a different strip.  She's a pretty big part of the QC story.  And it would probably change Marten's future too.  New roommates?  It wouldn't be the same.

It wasn't a secret, he was testing the water when he asked her about her five-year plan and I'm assuming that if she hadn't brought it up again, he would have done (or simply shelved the idea).

Yep.  Jeph has done changes that change everything to QC, and I don't doubt that he'll do changes that change everything to QC again, but he won't do it on every opportunity, so if that's what he's setting up now, Jeph only knows.

It is such an opportunity though, so speculation flows naturally ...

Actually the past 200 strips have taken very little time in-universe. If you go through it strip-by-strip and map it out, it could be as little as two weeks, and probably not more than four. (Yeah, I really just did that.)

Angus and Faye had this discussion already. The consensus was that if he gets the role, he moves to NY and she doesn't and they have a long-distance relationship via trains (also via telephones and internets, I presume).

I've read that one several times, and always thought the plural "housemates" was an error. I just now realized he was including Momo.

It would be easier to see it as a mirror if it reflected anything other than the people standing directly in front of it -- like, say, the opposite wall, the people who are behind our POV, or whatever...

You should see him live.  I was lucky enough to do so in 2010, and he put on a 4 hour show with just a long enough intermission for all us cancer addicts to have a couple fags, and still refill our drinks.  The guy gets so into what he's doing that I can't even describe it.

I've seen 128 GB flash drives, wouldn't be surprised if there are bigger. Plus, this is a universe that has enough storage to fit a consciousness in something smaller than a toaster.
