  • What.

Tai seems a bit over-stimulated.

By normal standards, yes.

By Tai standards, eh, maybe a little?

  • Such cool. Post good. Wow.

She seemed to be the normal, slightly over the top Tai to me. And did anyone notice that Tai seems to have a birthmark/mole/Big freckle on her left hand near the wrist? Or maybe my computer is just smudged....

many UK cars only have two.
Is that so? That really sucks. (Edit: Fixed quote error)

Remember that British roads are narrower than USA ones, and the cars are generally smaller (one might also add, the people are also usually smaller, but that would be a sweeping stereotype that would not, in any case, be true).

I am a master of science with math as my minor. I do not understand a word of that wikipedia article.

It's algebraic geometry. Very tough stuff. (I did my PhD thesis in algebraic geometry, admittedly almost  thirty years ago, and I can almost understand it....)

Seconded. I did mine ('90) in representation theory of algebraic groups, which is a mixture of group theory and algebraic geometry. Only after I had completed my degree it dawned on me that I don't have to understand algebraic geometry to do my stuff. I just have to believe in (the results of) algebraic geometry.

Also the standard references to deeper AG are available in French only, so you lost me at that point.

I love algebra! I haven't gotten further than commutative and homological algebra in preparation for algebraic geometry so far, but I'm optimistic that I'll learn it yet.
Also, I didn't realise there were so many mathematicians around.

You have to admit that mathematicians are awesome in regard naming things: "flips" and "flops"; there is a whole field called "tropical geometry", there are "sheaves" (with "stalks") and "germs" and "flags". In theoretical physics there are "bras" (this one is special in the sense that the name is not a reference to the colloquial meaning of the word; it's merely the first half of "Bracket") and "tadpoles", but these usually aren't used in maths, I guess.
And many others. Some of them are only funny in German, so I didn't list them.

I think it's meant to be a groove between two tendons. It's quite prominent on my wrist but I'm an old man, not a young woman like Tai.

Maybe it's just me, but when I looked at panel 4 in #2705, I did not see Jim at first. Meaning that with the "silver fox" dyed back to brown, no glasses and scruffy 5'o'clock going on, I thought it was Steve!

Funny how a good lay can make you want to change...your entire life.

I wonder how things are going to change if Marten Mom really moves on over.  Will she play a hand in the personal development Marten keeps saying he should do?

This may have been her first romantic encounter since the divorce, which would make it her first romantic encounter with someone who is interested in her gender in possibly decades.

Really?  'Cuz I kinda got the impression that her romantic dry spell was a more recent thing, and that she had had at least a fling or two in the years since her divorce.  Either way, though, I can understand why she's so enthusiastic.  Jim is a lucky boy  8-)

The Range Rover is also more likely to see more actual off-road use than the average 'Murrican Creampuff Compensator or Soccermommwagen.

Oh, she's had lots and lots of casual sex.  But I think this is the first time since Henry that she's actually had romance involved, in that she was after more than just a one-night stand with some random dude.

Nope, she's clearly a half-succubus or something. Which probably explains part of why Marten's reasoning reverts to "infantile" after he has sex; he's a quarter-whatever and all the age regression went to his head, literally.

Re: algebraic geometry, flips and flops - this I know from nothing.  The Analytic and algebraic topology of locally Euclidean parameterization of infinitely differentiable Riemannian manifolds is more my style. Seriously, my undergrad thesis in pure maths dealt with it (also Lobachevskian manifolds - spherical and hyperspherical geometry). They have practical applications.

Well, I am reliably informed that women tend to look refreshed and slightly rejuvenated after a good lay, gets the blood flowing and all that. I have no idea if that can take 20 years off, but it can contribute.
