Faye is certainly starting it out in a rather conciliatory frame of mind, isn't she?

I'm impressed.  She's really handling this well.

Angus will be stopped by security, and will be denied access to the next audition.

I'm not sure if Faye is actually okay with the audition thing or just really good at hiding her feelings.  I mean, sure, she spent the first 499 strips hiding them, but maybe she really is cool with everything and life is happy.

One can not be okay with something while still being positive and supportive for someone they love. Faye knows it's important to Angus and would make him happy to get the job. She's willing to support it for that reason, even if it makes her unhappy. That's what ppl do when they love each other.

Excellent point.  I tend to dodge them, myself.

But who's to say they haven't talked (at least some) about it offscreen?  Sure, we know Faye's burying the Sven thing, but they've at least broached the issue, and from some of the things we've seen they may well have gone further into it

'course, it doesn't mean she still doesn't have some reservations...

But we've seen Faye's reservations since those comics and if they'd had that conversation I think it would of been included in comic, it's kind of a too big a deal for Faye at the moment to have happened offscreen.

Although that last link you posted reminded me her and Angus were going to have a fancy dinner and that wasn't shown so it could of been discussed there, but again wouldn't that have been shown? Did they even go before she started drinking with Marten?  And now Fayes wearing a different shirt that when Dora was talking about cutting out Sven, so are we on a different day? DID WE TIME JUMP? DID WE QUANTUM LEAP? Somebody slide over a car bonnet and punch a dude!

It's also possible -- since it seems she's trying to be genuinely supportive regardless of her own misgivings -- that she's holding off on that conversation 'til she has a better idea of what's going on. Bringing it up before Angus leaves could throw him off his game or cause him to have second thoughts. And if he doesn't get the part (as might happen if he misses a callback because of a well-intended, if rather sharp and pointy gift is misconstrued by a cop or security agent, for instance), then that particular conversation doesn't really need to happen, does it?

Hello everybody,

I just haaad to make an account, just to say this. After all that Dora-Sven-Faye-Angus-Marten-Mieville-(not-Tai)-Drama, I LOVE Faye right now. This is the perfect gift - very Faye, comes from the heart, shows her support and love even if she can't say it in so many words. I also love Angus a little bit, because while I didn't like him in the beginning (how the hell is pestering somebody at their place of work after that person already expressed non-interest considered an acceptable form of flirting) he's been a good.. boyfling for Faye. If she can express her love like that, I think she's in a good place, no matter how that Sven thing plays out or if her relationship can really survive long-distance.

No, no, she's doing better than even she thinks.  It's all "what ifs" and "buts", which she's going to find are not nearly as awful as her fears over them are.

Dora's just pointing all this out.  Which is rather amazing in its own right...

  • The mischief that dwells within

Okay, after this, the evaporating bra incident, the Backalley Fairy and the message from Gary, I am certain:

QCverse doesn't run on physics. It runs on magic. Specifically on fae magic, the kind that steals your socks because they think it's fun.

They cling to Marten and make his life, particularly his love life, hell, for fun.

Pintsize used to be one of them. Then for some reason or other, he got banished, and has since somewhat changed his ways from the wacky hijinks we know to the at times thoughtful robot we are confused by.
Now he knows about the faeries - but he is doomed to live on and never tell anyone. This is why we see fewer hijinks from him - he is caught between missing his old world and reconsidering what an asshole he has been.

I don't think #2783 is the best QC strip ever, but there are some things worthy of discussion:
  • Do robots sleep? I had the impression Momo did not require sleep (or a bed)?
  • How are May and Dale's roommate practicalities? Does May have her own room? Or does she use the sofa? Or sleep in Dale's bed (as this strip seems to imply, unless Dale and Marigold have been banging on May's sofa while she was out)?
  • When Marigold and Dale are banging, I guess they want some privacy? Do they ask May to go for a walk?
  • Why is May so upset? Is she jealous? Or is she mad because of Dale's sloppy housekeeping? An empty condom wrapper is hardly unhygienic (used condoms is another matter...)?

As for point one, Momo said that she does not need sleep. Jeph has written somewhere outside the comic that this is not actually the case.

I'm sure there's non AI backups to Station, he might be organizing and coordinating everything, but it would be foolish to not have dedicated back ups and sub-systems.

Great article here. It seems like all animals need some form of sleep, to defragment or reorganize their brains. By extension, this process would also be necessary for AIs. In cases where sleeping might be dangerous, such as in marine mammals, it seems the two brain hemispheres alternate on sleeping, perhaps equivalent to what Station does with his multiple processor cores.
