    • How are May and Dale's roommate practicalities? Does May have her own room? Or does she use the sofa? Or sleep in Dale's bed (as this strip seems to imply, unless Dale and Marigold have been banging on May's sofa while she was out)?
    • Why is May so upset? Is she jealous? Or is she mad because of Dale's sloppy housekeeping? An empty condom wrapper is hardly unhygienic (used condoms is another matter...)?

They had sex on May's bed is the implication.

does may sleep-mode on a bed?

honestly, she should just count herself lucky it was only the wrapper...[/list]

As for sleeping, May probably doesn't need to sleep but powers down overnight just to get to the next day faster.

I assume May is making a reference to Seconds here. (Bryan Lee O'Malley's new book.) Or I'm just now assuming now all references to house spirits are related to Seconds.

It's been established previously that robots do have the equivalent of sleep.  Basically it's standby mode.

That's one way to get their juices flowing. They should make sure the recharging unit isn't in public, though, because some people might find it revolting and charge them with a misdemeanor.

Poor May, considering her history and temper, she is handling the situation reasonably well.  However, those death eyes are terrifying.

I suspect Dale isn't the culprit, it might have been Marigold, or my prime suspect, Pintsize.

I guess AnthroPCs stay in some sort of energy saving mode when people aren't around. After all they are companion AIs. About the need for sleep, considering that they have mammal like mindset (their emotions seems similar to humans) And their clock speed they could sleep for a few seconds every hour and nobody would notice. Gerbils alternate many periods of activity and sleep during the day instead of sleeping for hours in a row like us.

OK, all this AI sleep talk reminded me of the fanfic I wrote a couple years ago that delved pretty deeply into AI sleep and dreaming.  (Nov 2011?  Holy crap...).  I found the link in the fanart thread, but Scrid has changed a lot, so it wasn't working.

Here's what I hope is a working link

I'm pretty sure it's publicly viewable, let me know it it's more broke than I thought...

        Nope.

May be May put herself in sleep mode standing up in the corner to give some privacy to Dale and Marigold. They got carried away, opened the package and tossed the empty one without looking.

Now this justifies how pissed May may have been.

If you try to hold in a fart, it will just build up and get worse. The gas doesn't magically disappear. The best you can hope for, is to delay the fart until you can get some privacy. It is a good feeling really, after a long meeting, to finally get to the bathroom and let out a humongous fart.

As for the chemistry joke above: Cesium and water is definitely not something you should try without adequate protection and firefighting equipment.

I get why Dora is keeping this from Tai. I understand wanting to keep that safe drama free place with you partner. I did the same thing with my gf. My relationship with her was the one place I felt safe from all the emotional baggage I had built up over the years. I hid a lot from her, my mental illness, my past traumas, etc cos I wanted a clean slate with her, without all that hurt tainting it. Eventually that became untenable and I couldn't keep hiding it as we got closer and more intimate. Eventually it all came out in a pretty dramatic, violent and damaging way. It took a long time to regain the trust I damaged. Long story short, Dora needs to be honest with Tai and trust her enough to confide in her.

I don't really see why this is crazy drama between them though - all Dora needs to say is "I've decided not to spend time with my brother any more because I don't like who he has become and I don't like who he makes me into". Then Tai would go "ok, I'll support you, let me know if you want to talk about it".

Yeah, absolutely. Also, Bermymoo is right, I mean what would Tai do? Be nice?

Although, I've had a partner keep things from me (temporarily, but serious stuff) which made me furious. They had a similar reason - one drama-free place in their life that wouldn't want to talk about the stuff that happened. Still pissed me off to no end, because if they didn't want to talk about it they could have just told me.

I agree it is nothing major, hiding is more drana-inducing than the subject itself. Secrets don't prevent drama, they only delay a and intensify it.

I am hoping that the upshot of this will be that when it all comes out, Tai reacts maturely and sensibly and the relationship survives. Dora can learn a lot from something not going down in flames.

I don't really see why this is crazy drama between them though - all Dora needs to say is "I've decided not to spend time with my brother any more because I don't like who he has become and I don't like who he makes me into". Then Tai would go "ok, I'll support you, let me know if you want to talk about it".
Yup. I mean, what does Tai care about Sven? Why would it even be a drama?

Dora is pretty self-obsessed, and this is a big deal to her, so she assumes it's a big deal to everyone else I suppose.

Yes, that is how a mature, reasonable adult would handle it. But since when is QC about mature, reasonable adults? (Besides Momo, I mean.)
And Winslow and Station. Neither are human, btw. But a universe populated with mature, reasonable adults would be very dull.

Someone ought to make a multidimensional diagram of each character's personality. Some dimensions to consider:
          • Violence axis: Most characters would have low score, Dora a bit higher (from beating Sven), with Faye topping the scale. If time is included as a separate dimension/axis (which it should), Faye's violence score would be shown to decrease over time.
          • Social ineptitude axis: Marten has a low score, Marigold a high score (but decreasing over time).
          • Weirdness axis: Emily would of course be far out, but most others would also be well above zero.
          • Maturity axis: See above.
Now, visualization might be a problem

I can't remember, has Tai met Sven? And if so, what did she say?

Tai was present when Marten, MartyMom and the gang met Sven on the street shortly after The Breakup. The exchange: "I suppose it would be bad form for me to seduce you." "'fraid so." caused Marten to want crawl into a hole, but Tai grabbed his arm and stopped him. I guess it is still possible that Tai has never talked with Sven, or even attended the same party.

Well if the stats only go from zero  outwards then it can be plotted as a two dimensional graph.
If you add a time axis then you would need a third axis.

The graph was the first one I found but is something most games and a some manga use to track skills and abilities for comparison purposes.
Please not the scale can be either linear, logarithmic or mixed depending on the variability of the statistic values.

There is a difference between spare parts, extra parts and left over parts.

The Venn diagram  for Common Sense and Good Sense has very little, if any, overlap.

Long story short, Dora needs to be honest with Tai and trust her enough to confide in her.

Therein lies the problem, Dora has severe trust and control issues and isn't really someone that would open up to anyone. Any time she did open up, it's usually when she was kind of backed into a corner, usually because of her actions.
