Futurama Is Coming BACK!!!
0bsessions:
DVD releases. Futurama doesn't move to Comedy Central until January 1.
Edit: Am I the only one who's hesitant about the idea of Futurama going to Comedy Central? Cartoon Network has been VERY good to Futurama and instrumental in bringing up interest in the series. Meanwhile, Comedy Central has a history of mishandling any animated property that doesn't have the words South or Park in the title. Remember their cartoon block? They moved it around constantly until nobody cared anymore and then dropped it. Remember Drawn Together? Same treatment. Hopefully Futurama will do fine off of its current level of recognition, but I am extremely wary of Comedy Central totally fucking this opportunity.
Considering the fact that Futurama would fit perfectly between Simpsons and Family Guy based off of its more situational Simpsons aspects and more fantastical sci-fi elements, I think they'd be much better suited going back to Fox, regardless of how bad the network fucked them before.
Storm Rider:
Fox probably isn't interested, to be blunt. Besides which, the threshold for acceptable ratings on a cable channel like Comedy Central is typically much lower than a main network like Fox. I think this is OK because Futurama fans will actively seek Comedy Central out for these episodes and they don't have to worry about attracting the other idiots that watch Fox. Let's be honest: no matter how great Futurama was, not that many people watched it, and it has a better chance of surviving longer on a cable network. And I think that Comedy Central probably knows better than trying to fuck with Matt Groening, who I'm sure has enough celebrity at this point to intimidate them. Plus, they probably learned from the whole Chappelle's Show fiasco. In short, the eternally suffering optimist in me really wants this to turn out right. The creator, voice cast, and most of the writing team is still there, and they don't have to worry nearly as much about ratings, so I really really think this can work.
0bsessions:
Futurama has grown in popularity exponentially since its time on Fox, so I doubt ratings would be an issue. Seriously, it's almost as big as Family Guy at this point.
Hunter:
Comedy Central did some good to Scrubs. Showing it whenever and not as a late night thing. Scrubs basically kicked Mad TV off so maybe we can have a Futurama and Scrubs together without shitty Mad TV interrupting. /shrug

So, that all sounds very good to me.
