I dont' think that this has been made a topic yet, and I'm pretty surprised.

Morrissey ain't tourin' Canada because we are teh seal hunters!!11

It's a good cause, but- doesn't it make more sense to raise ticket prices or something and donate mula? Not like the Canadian government cares whether Morrissey tours here or not.

I would hate to see what happened if someone showed Morrissey (and the hyper-intelligent "hair" that he is nothing more than a flesh puppet for) the plans to those kangaroodoomharvesting machines that got proposed down here in the land'o stumpbeasts.

Oh a less political note, has anyone sat down and listened to the lyrics of that new song he's released?

<sexy smiths voice>
you have killed me
There is no point saying this again
you have killed me
you have killed me
you have killed me

</sexy smiths voice>

Or something along those lines. Either way that’s how I heard it...

EDIT: Blast you spelling monster! Blast you!

As time wears on, he satirizes himself more, and somehow, he's the only person who can really pull it off well.

I find his tour shirts really emo, with that crime-scene body sillhouette against a black shirt.

Wait morrissey isn't emo? I am pretty sure his music is emotional, and sings about girls/or men that didn't work out.

Morrissey isn't emo, I promise you. (Though it might be a good idea to sidetrack this thread before it gets locked for politics. Then again, if we sidetracked it talking about what emo is it'd get locked also cause theres already a sticky on that. Basically this thread is doomed)

In any case I'm just going to say one thing about Morrisey and it will probably contribute to the locking of this thread: He cares a lot about seals. Great, super. But, uh we pull a whole lot of worse shit here in the US. Sometimes Great Britain helps us out. Apparently he likes seals more than, say, Shiites.

Come to think of it, Morrissey should probably just refuse to tour anywhere in protest of the entire world.

Of course, he'd then have to live somewhere on an ocean, because Britain has fox hunting still, I think. I never listened to whether those legislations went through.

He can't tour ANYWHERE if he has that kind of attitude.

Morrisey should tour in Antartica for the baby seals, and charge them $50 for admission. Which would go to helping save them.

^ *Gasp* Thou shalt not insult thy Go..Morrissey like that.
Seriously though, Canada, stop killing the seals, it's not funny anymore. It's like Japan and the Whaling. Although I would like to go to Japan and get a whale burger. (I'm a nutorious carnivore, if it's meat I'll probably try it once)
Also something that I've been pondering, seeing as Whales are mamals, not fish, does that mean they'd taste like a steak? instead of a fish?

that slogan is a good slogan. so good, in fact, I think it should be applied to other things. like, "there's no wrong way to hit your spouse." or "there's no wrong way to commit nonconsentual sodomy."

Dude, you just hit them with microwaves.  That's how my friends from high school decided seals should be killed.  No goddamned clubbing, or harpooning, or any of that shit.  Just cook their insides.  Best part is, your seal meat is cooked before you even cut it open.  And, hey, those baby seals had it coming.

Come to think of it, if he toured Canada he probably would have just stopped by Toronto and Montreal.

Personally, after his comments, I'm thinking he's a bit of an idiot.  I love his music, but I can't stand him.  Saying Canada is one of the worlds most evil nations, up there with China, and drawing contrasts between the seal hunt and the Holocaust.  Those are things that are just terrible, and only serve to weaken his case.  I've lost almost all respect for him, and there's no way I'll be buying his solo albums anytime soon.

  I'm not a fan of the seal hunt, but just because of his idiocy, I'm thinking of getting a shirt with a baby seal about to be bashed, and have "Morrissey's a Bitch" or something similar written on the back.

He thinks he has so many canadian fans that THEY will make the difference.
Suddenly, all the morrissey fans in canada have a strong anti seal hunting stance.

And yet he's touring the USA?

Well, he can afford to skip Canada. Two or at most three tour dates aren't going to break him. Plus, he makes some press for his new tour.

Is he under the impression that at some point or another every single canadian has partaken in a spot of seal clubbing? Is it some ritual you have to undertake before becoming a real Canadian?
