AUGH!

Let The Simpsons die. The best show ever made, reduced to this....

Well, okay, but I really think they should make the movie like the final Simpsons thing, y'know. Everyone loves the Simpsons, but I don't think too many people would be upset if it was over. There has to be an end!

They can never let a good show die with dignity can they?

Wake me when the Futurama movie comes out. That's the one the fanboys crave for.

Yeah, let it die already.

Futurama is way better anyways.

hopefully the reason the tv show has been so lame recently is because they've been saving all the good jokes for the movie.

agreed on futurama

I heard Matt Groening has actually got tired of the simpsons, and wants to end it soon in an incontravertibly final way. Probably by killing Homer. This movie could be the medium.

And hey, there are still some good episodes of the Simpsons. The problem is they moved from a group of writers to individual writers per episode. And some people just aren't that funny.

Worse, some people THINK they are.

Well, since the show is no longer funny it should just go away.  That being said, the movie could be acutally good.  They could have some serious writing and comedy in it so I won't dismiss it so quickly.

It's just that after 16+ years you can only wring so many jokes out of the same characters. You can onbly laugh at 'Homer is rather stupid it seems!' gags so many times. And let's face it- Lisa and Marge are just annoying half the time. (debatable, maybe.)

the family guy movie was terrible, the first three series were good but after that it just started to seem far to formulaic and predictable.
and yeah american dad was pretty dull.

south park is where the laughs are, i know its sort of lame to say it these days, but it really has been getting steadily better over the years.

Hahah yeah and trying to convince people that South Park is the best TV has atm is so hard because all they remember is the pre movie not very intelligent crude swearin related jokes.  But now its like so complex or pervasive in the topics they tackle with nuance and subtleties that take repeated watchings to conquer

He did. They need Conan, Richie Sakai, Jay Kogen and Wallace Wolodarsky.

Those guys could write.

Also, Family Guy was funny, but it didn't need to come back, American Dad...more like American Bad (Da dum dah), and Futurama was good throughout.

The best show going right now is Wonder Showzen. Not a cartoon, but not real people. It's terrific.

on a similar simpsons/familyguy/futurama/southpark train of thought ...

king of the hill is really underrated and underappreciated.
the clerks cartoon just plain sucked though, it wanted to be funny so badly yet completely lacked any wit. i suppose j&sb strike back fans would love it though.

King of the Hill is really one of the most well written shows and Mike Judge is a genius.

I miss Duckman.

The Simpsons?  Like everyone's said, stopped being funny years ago.  When the show was at its peak there was nothing better, but now somebody needs to take it out back and shoot it.  It'd be a mercy killing.

that family guy movie was terrible. they milked stewie's character to the point that I can't stand him anymore. I still like mayor west, hopefully the newer ones haven't screwed him up.

I don't think I've ever watched an episode of south park but someone told me they recently did a mock of family guy's "randomness"--anyone seen that?

and as for the simpsons,

how can ricky gervais and 'unfunny' be in the same sentence? I haven't seen those episodes, were they really that bad?

Cartman unleashes a rant against Family Guy in one of the newer ones, probably speaking for Matt and Trey too.

Because he only has one joke: someone says something embarrasing. people cringe. We laugh because it is hysterical, especially when it's done 40 times in a row. And his stand-up's abysmal

As long as it has Kelsey Grammer is in it as Side Show Bob, I'll be happy. He's probably the best character in the simpsons (maybe, even more so then Homer) If his brother Cecil appears, with David Hyde Pierce, that be awesome.

Probably my favourite episode is where Side Show Bob is released from prison, and works with his brother Cecil. Awesome episode.

Or it could be my fascination with maniacs...

A movie to permently end the series would be pretty good idea.
