JLM:

--- Quote from: jcknbl ---The indie thing, I think, is coming up with ridiculous sub-genres that only inlude one band. Ex: Post-gothic psychobilly noise-pop flamenco dance.

--- End quote ---

Or coming up with 50 different genres for a single band.

Side note - whatever music journalist coined the term Math-Rock needs to be tied to a pole back to back with the journalist who coined the term Post-Rock, after which point each will be forced to wear footie pajamas with water moccasins jammed in each leg.

Scandanavian War Machine:
melodic-hard-death-power-core-speed metal

-um....i made this genre up to classify Children of Bodom (not their crummy new album "Are You Dead Yet?" all their good stuff before that)
i realize its silly, verbose, and unecessary but i was drunk when i thought of it and it just stuck in my mind because its so goofy

edit: i did just what the above post was condeming haha. its not really meant to be taken super seriously

KharBevNor:
Simplest way to describe CoB is what they are: Harsh Power Metal.

--- Quote ---Nerdcore hip hop, or geeksta rap, is a subgenre of hip hop music that is performed by nerds, and is characterized by themes and subject matter considered to be of general interest to nerds. Self-described nerdcore musician MC Frontalot coined the term in 2000 in the song "Nerdcore Hip-Hop." Frontalot, like most nerdcore artists, self-published his work. As a niche genre, nerdcore has a strong amateur tradition of self-publishing and self-production.

Of all nerdcore artists, Frontalot and mc chris are probably the most widely known.

Popular nerdcore subject matter includes Star Wars (Frontalot's "Yellow Lasers", 2 Skinnee J's "Mind Trick", mc chris's "Fett's Vette"), science (MC Hawking's "Entropy", 2 Skinnee J's "Pluto"), and computers. Some non-nerdcore hip hop compositions exist that focus on similar topics.
