Dub recommendations.

KharBevNor:
Okay, so, I have a feeling that I may actually like some dub. This comes from three reasons:

1) Old goth dub remixes. Ie, Alien Sex Fiend - Hurricane Fighter Dub. Not to mention that apparently Bauhaus and ASF and Placebo and a ton of other bands I like are dub-influenced anyway.
2) Skindred and Dub War.
3) Re-playing gta3 recently and totally digging KJAH, which I believe plays dub?

I THINK I'm after dub rather than reggae, though I really have no clear idea how they are delineated. As you can imagine, I'm looking for darker stuff, but with the following provisos in mind:

1) Almost all ska pisses me off. This goes for every wave.
2) I haven't ever really clicked with any of the Bob Marley I've heard, which, admittedly, isn't much.

Anyone got any ideas? If not, just talk about reggae and dub and whatnot and don't mind me, I guess.

Augustus Pablo is excellent. He turned the melodica, previously just a kid's toy, into quite a respectable instrument capable of leading great songs. There's a Pablo tune on K-Jah, actually, "King Tubby Meets the Rockers Uptown".

I must heartily recommend the following album:

Poor bastard died of a neuromuscular disease in '99, unfortunately.

Inlander:
Okay, first things first - are you after modern dub, or dub reggae?  Because the stuff that gets called "dub" these days is really quite dissimilar to the original dub, i.e.: dub reggae.  Listen to the Mad Professor's No Protection (a complete remix of Massive Attack's Protection album) for some high-quality modern dub.  As for the old-school dub, that is dub reggae, check out some Lee Perry.  There are masses of albums and compilations out there - just dive in!

Praeserpium Machinarum:
I am not really into reggae and such but

is dubbish I have been told and it is pretty dark and introspective. Well to some extent, it's not exactly goth-dub either.

Trollstormur:
King Tubby OG of dub.

Khar, why are our music tastes so goddamn similar? *stares at his dub records in bewilderment*
