"Red Right Ankle" is great! One of the highlights of Her Majesty.

The new album is excellent. I think Castaways & Cutouts is still my favorite, but their stuff is all very close in quality. I've never heard of anybody who likes one of their albums but not the others.

by "new" do you mean the The Tain EP? Or have they finally put out thier next full length?

Anywho, I've got Castaways, Majesty, and Tain, and they all just rule my face so hard. I used to feel sorta dirty for liking them, but I eventually came to embrace them whole heartedly. They currently reside in near permamnet rotation in my disc man, and have become one of my favorite artists of late.

the decemberists are one of those bands that always seem to have an infinitely large back catalogue.  i apparently haven't even begun with them...
And so far they're not coming anywhere near Michigan or Ohio on this spring tour of theirs.  So not cool.

Their new piratelicious album, Picaresque, going to be out in about a month. Though the Tain EP is great too!

The Mariner's Revenge Song is handcrafted with only the most awesomest of awesome. I could listen to that forever. Or at least a few times on repeat anyway.

I wish good bands would hurry up and tour Canada, but they never do. We have to make do with... with...

listened to Picaresque this weekend. My first impression is that I will need to listen to it a few more times for it to grow on me. There wasnt anything that stood out to me right away other than the seemingly anti-america song, which I didnt enjoy. Gotta listen to it a few more times before I make a final judgement.

I think I'm the only person on the planet that doesn't like these guys.

I saw them in concert with the French Kicks and thought the FK were MUCH better.

I think Rush toured Canada once. :D

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

I heard Greenday's Manchester gig last weekend was really good actually.  I didn't go but a few of my friends like a bit of Greenday, and the feedback has all been positive.

Definitely a big bump, I was really confused because I was like "New cd? There were no announcements... Picaresque came out already!"

Anyway... I love The Decemberists. They're my favorite band. I've had the worst luck this year, though. When they were here, it was on a Wednesday and I couldn't go to their concert and I couldn't go see Colin Meloy's solo tour either because it was on a Monday.

They're an excellent band. I have a lot of respect for each member just for their talents.

School? Jeez. If I need to see a band, and I can't get the next day off work, unless they are a band touring from overseas, I usually don't bother, because I'll be able to see them again in the next year or so, but when I was back in school I would just go to a gig, and then to school and sleep all day.

You just cannot get fired from school for sleeping, no matter how hard you try.

I find the only time I really find myself in the mood for the Decemberists is when I stumble in late at night, after spending the night in a shitty dive, trying to hit on sleazy women.

That is, I am constantly finding myself in the mood to listen to the Decemberists. They add a touch of baroque romance to the filthy squalor in which I live.

I've listened to Picaresque so many times that I've developed a slight whale phobia.  Has anyone purchased the Colin Meloy solo EPs?
