Well, ladies and gents, Bruce Springsteen is out with a new album. And, like just about everything else he has done, it's AWESOME!! Seriously. If you have any interest in folk, you gotta check this out. Especially 'O Mary Don't You Weep'.

Any other thoughts on Bruce?

no, I think he means "The Seeger Sessions"  it's a folk cover album that has had minimal hype, but sounds awesome.  RUmor has it that he's also working on some songs for the E-street band...

OK, so I have a guilty pleasure...

The point was to be shouting. You ever been to a Springsteen concert? There is always that one (alrighty, fifty) guy(s) yelling BROOOOOOOCE!!!

Sorry if you found it annoying, didn't mean no harm. :-)

Also, yeah I am talking about the Seeger Sessions. It's really good.

Heard it the other day. Sounds pretty good - not as overly earnest as some of the Boss's stuff can be. If you into folk, you will probably like it.

Ok, I bought the album yesterday, and I've loved it so far.  It's really just insanely great.  My mind is indeed confident in the fact that Springsteen won't ever make a bad album, EVER!

That's pretty confident man. Ever is a long time.

I rather like Ol' Brucey. Saw him live a few years ago, twas a fantastic show. He wouldn't play 'Born in the USA' cause it was just after the US invaded Iraq, which was a shame cause the crowd was gagging for it.

Anyway, the point of this post, this new album, is it quite upbeat? Cause I don't like Folk but I do like Bruce...

Upbeat? Hell yeah. I agree with Dark Flame: the day Bruce comes out with a bad album is the day my name is Nancy*.

*Disclaimer: My name is not Nancy.

The reccordings are amazingly upbeat, which likely stems from the fact that every song on the album was preformed live in studio, on three seperate one day dates, as Bruce says in the liner notes.  You can hear him calling out things he want's done at times, and the energy in general is amazing.  Definately a lot different from most of Bruce's folk recordings, but then, those three albums were done solo, while this is done with a 12(!) person backing band.

Something must be wrong with me. Everyone. Everyone likes Bruce. I've seriously never met anyone who didn't. I however, don't find it to be that special. It certainly isn't terrible it just doesn't grab me. Am I the only one in the world who feels like this? Do I need brains surgery to correct this disorder?

I like Bruce the same way I like vanilla ice cream.  I won't refuse it if it's offered to me, and I enjoy it when I have it, but I never really go out of my way for it, and given a choice I'll go for something I like more.

I have a completely irrational dislike of him since I have not heard any album by him. Only that rising song which irked me badly. This Boss thing and the whole Springsteen mythos really repulses me. Dare I say it is too american for me, I guess I do.

This is a very good analogy.
