I'm talkin' bout House Music!

<< < (2/2)

Bunnyman:
I'm a sucker for a good bit of oldschool Chicago-style house.

Richie Hawtin
Phuture
Mr. Fingers

Another great genre is Acid...so much fun.  Makes me giddy.

Kerrier District
Aphex Twin's "Analord" series.

And I do love the "Disco House" kinda stuff...sample-heavy, perhaps with vocoders.

Daft Punk
Basement Jaxx

Then there's stuff that I suppose would be more 'trance' related.

Joey Beltram
Paul Oakenfold

The genre's never been about deep, musical masterpieces.  The genre's all about (and I'm gonna paraphrase Franz Ferdinand here) music for girls to dance to.  A noble and honorable pursuit, if you ask me.

It's also fucking great stuff to listen to while cruising the 405.

Oh. Hells. Yeah.

MilkmanDan:
Yeah, Acid is fun. I like some House, but a) it's Tech-House / MicroHouse / Minimal-House / What ever the hell you want to call it, and I'm never quite sure if it's house or techno. also b) I generally like individual songs rather than artists.

That being said, I like Sami Koivikko and lots of that Shitkatapult stuff. Also Poker Flat and BPitch Control. Nathan Fake and Booka Shade are also pretty awesome. Some other tracks I like (that could well be techno):
Theo Parrish - Falling Up (Carl Craig Remix)
DJ T vs Freestyle Man - Acid Bath
Mr Oizo - Flat Beat (Cheesy, but only because of the adverts. It's a damn tune)
Steve Barnes - Cosmic Sandwich (Dominik Eulberg Remix)

I keep my House, Techno and Breaks records right next to my desk, so that's just a small peruse through some tunes I liked enough to pick up on vinyl.

I know a Funky House DJ though, and that stuff is BAD. Music for hairdressers to dance a little bit to, but not too much, because they might sweat, or ruin their hair or something.
