ellen allien / apparat - orchestra of bubbles

ok, after reading the newspost last night, i was interested in how it sounded. i loved ellen's berlinette and didn't really listen to thrills, but i d/led this album last night and put it on my ipod and headed to work.

i listened to this album on repeat all day. 8.5 hours. plus 1.5 hours commuting in the car. so, 10 hours [and counting] of my day have been ellen allien and apparat filling my ears with pure joy.

ok, my favorite song has got to be "Way Out" [track 2] because it has the solid base that it runs with [a la many tracks on Berlinette] and the  vocals just hit the sweet spot in my ears.... i listened to that song on repeat for probably 4 out of the 10 hours today.

so, what does the board at qc have to say about it? heard it yet? favorite songs?

i definitely went to amazon and bought both orchestra of bubbles and a real copy of berlinette to add to my cd collection. ellen puts out her own records and her day job is running her own record label, bpitch control. if you like her music, please support her. it is damn fine electronic music.

I'm not that interested in Ellen Alien, but Apparat's stuff is generally excellent.

I've been buzzing out over the James Holden mix CD 'At The Controls' which came out fairly recently.  Has a couple of Apparat tunes on there alongside a lot of this sorta scuzzy grubby techhouse stuff ... plus some old Krautrock (Harmonia rule!!!), some Fennesz, a few vaguely indie songs and one of Mad Professor's Massive Attack dubs.  It's hot shit.  Sorry to go tangential, but if you like something with Apparat on it you may like this other thing involving apparat.  James Holden is the label boss for Border Community, who released that Nathan Fake album that came out recently.

The vast majority of house music bores the hell out of me.  However, Orchestra of Bubbles sounds pretty good to me.

I've only given it one listen so far, though, so this is a very unformed opinion.
