FeralCats:
Well, lot's of Avant-Garde stuff sounds the same too.

In Avant-garde, there's people who do new things, there are five or six followers (hopefully) who follow the same thing and take it maybe a step further, and then there are loads who recycle old Avant-Garde to seem avant-garde in the first place.

Avant-Garde does not neccessarily mean good.

Panic At The Disco has never meant good.

Misereatur:
Did you just compare Panic! At The Disco to Avant Garde music?

If you like Nightwish you will probably also like Lunatica, newer Miseria, and possibly Beholder, Beyon-D-Lusion, newer Nightmare, Celesty, Epica, and Heavenly.

Also, for something heavier than those mentioned above, you could check out Chaoswave.  If you do check out Chaoswave, and you like them, I would highly recommend Nevermore's newest CD, "This Godless Endeavour," because of the very similar sounds of the two.

Also, at least some of the bands should be available for listening to on Myspace, which will probably be the easiest way of sampling them.

amok:
P!ATD are a band who could be good if they weren't shit.

My point is that there is absolutely nothing in that filmclip that I haven't seen or heard about a billion times at least five years past.  ie: I don't think that there is anything avant-garde about it.  Maybe this is what getting older feels like.  Everything new has been done before slightly differently, and you are old and jaded and bitter because you believe that it was done a lot better the first time.

I mean, I don't really believe that though because I can still hear a lot of decent music coming out at the moment.  And also because whatever Panic! reminds me of was also shit back when I first heard it.
