This isn't a coherent clause, but I see what you're getting at.  However, I fail to see how what I said amounts to insulting anyone's taste.  It's a bad band name.  To the extent that I didn't even think it was a band name; I thought it was a description of a band or a general topic for the thread.  The first time I read your post, I thought you had left out the name of the band.  That said, I really don't think it's in any way effectual to take personal offense at criticism of a band's faults.

A. It wasn't so subjective as "like" or "dislike."  My opinion was based on the practical functionality of the band name.  I know that's not all there is to a band name, but it is a consideration.

B. Snide suggests malicious intent.  It was just a goddamn joke.  No, it wasn't necessary to make a joke right off the bat.  But it's an internet message board; nothing about it is a necessity.  It was an indirect way to comment on the topic, but it was still a comment on the topic.  I fail to see how that falls outside the bounds of an internet discussion.
