Bands with stolen names
E. Spaceman:
The Stars of Track and Field - A Belle and Sebastian song.
a pack of wolves:
--- Quote from: ALoveSupreme ---I found out a couple weeks ago Sunn0)))) got their name from the spearkers. Which is odd because my band has been using Sunn speakers for our PA for about 6 months now.
--- End quote ---
I think it's also a nod to that Earth album that was called something like 'Sunn Amps And Smashed Guitars'.
--- Quote from: tommydski ---brian baker formed dag nasty, who were absolute shit and probably the inspiration for every shit band that has been called 'emocore'.
ian mackaye formed embrace, who were a hastily reassembled version of the faith. also, they were rubbish.
--- End quote ---
I really like Embrace and Dag Nasty myself. Embrace, well, the guy just can't sing in the slightest and it's old school emo as hell so I just can't help liking it. And although Dag Nasty have gone a bit wonky over the years 'Can I Say' is just textbook melodic punk with a nice bit of emo lumped in. I don't doubt the two of them are responsible for a lot of shite, but not nearly as much as Minor Threat and the sXe thing.
corwinzor:
Steppenwolf (a Herman Hesse novel)
As I Lay Dying (William Faulkner)
there is a lame local band called A Scanner Darkly (Philip K. Dick novel)
ImRonBurgundy?:
Hot Water Music and A Radio With Guts both lifted their names from Charles Bukowski
