Weird videogame music references...
« on: 06 Jun 2006, 14:30 »

Anyone got any?

Examples:

In Killer 7, you play as a band of assassins, each with the last name Smith(effectively making them the Smiths). In the first level, one of the puzzles involves "How soon is now?" written in blood on a wall.

5 of the 7 Koopa Kids from Super Mario Bros. 3 are music references:

Wendy O. Koopa - Wendy O. Williams
Lemmy Koopa - Lemmy Kilmister
Iggy Koopa - Iggy Pop
Roy Koopa - Roy Orbison(check out the sunglasses)
Ludwig von Koopa - Ludwig von Beethoven

In Golden Sun 2, after crossing a desert, one character says "I feel like I walked 500 miles. But I could walk 500 more!"

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

OH MAN

The idea of Lemmy references in Super Mario makes my brain explode with fucking awesome.

but the music sucks because the keyboards don't have the cold/mechanical sound they had but a wannabe techno sound that it's pathetic for Rammstein standars.

You know:

I would walk 500 miles
And I would walk 500 more

Ahhh... there was something in Everquest 2... but I can't remember off the top of my head...

Everquest 2 did have a reference to 8-bit Theater one time. There's a quest where you have to deliver swordchucks to some barbarian.

Oh, yeah. Warcraft has plenty.

Warcraft 3's Dwarven Mortar Team yells "I'm TNT! I'm DYNAMITE!"

For some strange reason I felt the need to reload SC and BW, everyone knows you can "piss off" a unit in the game, and me being me I had to do it :P

Let me try to think of what a few of them said...
Archon "It's beatiful on this side" (or close to that), "Break on through"

I'll start bugging things in the game again and see what I can find.

In Knights of the Old Republic, when you talk to Jolee Bindo enough, he says

"I did it all for the Wookies."
"The Wookies?"
"The Wookies!"

It may be a play on that Limp Bizkit song...

Actually there was some Star Was wrap that had that line in it... I'd rather not go looking for it because I really, really, really dislike that song.

Actually, Loveless is a play within the Final Fantasy VII world. Late during the second disc, Cid goes on a monologue, mentioning how he fell asleep during the play.

In The Suffering 2 'Ties That Bind' you can pick up a phone and a voice says "I know the only thing I ever really loved was hate."

In the first silent hill, the names of all the sonic youth members are written in the school on the doors or the lockers or something.  Memory fails me.
